My brother was like that; had to be hauled bodily out of bed on a weekday, but on Saturday he was up at 6, watching The Pink Panther. At least he kept the sound off, as there was only background music.
Bugs Bunny was the best. But in my recollection, The Bugs Bunny Show was on the air later morning (like 11am?)….used to try to have lunch at that time. TV trays and all. Can’t remember what was on immediately after the Test Pattern, but I remember watching that pattern and waiting for the waving flag and the Star Spangled Banner as the network came onto the airwaves and the cartoons would begin!
My favourite cartoons were “Tom and Jerry” and “The Pink Panther”. I had “Tom and Jerry” annuals for 1974 and 1976 and Pink Panther annuals for 1974 and 1975.
Many of the nation’s television stations used the image of the Indian-head card to be their final image broadcast when they signed off their analog signals for the final time between February 17 and June 12, 2009, as part of the United States digital television transition.Although I don’t remember the last time I saw a Test Pattern, I know it was a Long Time Ago!
When I was very young, the primitive cartoons included Fritz the Cat (the G-rated version) and caricatures of show business celebrities like Kate Smith, Boris Karloff and Edward G. Robinson. Betty Boop was big, too.
I have seen all these cartoon and shows that every of you mentioned here in Italy in the 60’s plus two coming from the East Europe : “Gustavo” from Hungary and “Professor Balthazar” from Jugoslavia

Why would they wake up at 5:45?
LINK_O_NEAL about 7 years ago
Because there aren’t cartoons on the school days at 6:00am.

Whoever gets up that early on a Saturday is crazy.
For me, weekends are all about sleeping in until noon.
