l just saw the article on the news 169,000 robots and 869,000 people manufacturing jobs created. What most people fail to understand is back in the day 1 clerk would do the job of 3 techs and a computer nowadays. You have programmers updating and fixing bugs, you have equipment maintenance and other people keeping the works going like maintaining BUILDINGS full of SERVERS. One local mayor understands this and keeps getting complaints that he won’t go computer totally. They think they will save money, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! Fools!
They don’t have to worry, their job is pretty stable (get it?). As far as machines taking over for horses, not only will that happen, we will name them after you. (Mustang, Colt, Maverick, etc…)
Throw in Air Conditioning, and yes, that’s a good thing.
Automobiles were definitely a bad thing for horses. They are luxuries now, and their numbers are a small fraction of what they were in the 19th Century. Once, horse poop threatened to bury American cities. Now, you’ve got to pay if you want some for your garden.
As for the stable hands, maybe they found better jobs. However, if shoveling poop was the limit of their ability to learn useful skills, they might be eating snacks bought with food stamps and watching a TV bought with welfare money, in subsidized housing. OTOH, with the right connections, they might be public school administrators, journalists, and politicians.
