Blackjack must be the most likable of all of Tracy’s villains, not grotesque like Flat Top,Blow Top, Wormy, Shoulders, Itchy Oliver, Influence (who reformed), Fatso (I made him up.), etc. But Blackjack is new, isn’t he? Not part of the old iconic villain roster?
I think it was me who was wondering out loud a few months back what would happen to Blackjack’s collection while he was in jail, so I guess today’s strip anders my question.
On another site, Timmy noted that panel 2 seems to emphasize BJ’s hands and with the dialog balloon mentioning “sign” that maybe BJ is using sign language to tell Tracy something privately. Hmmm?
Tracy seems (panel 3) a bit underwhelmed by it all but willing to comply to help out Blackjack, about whom he probably has what are conventionally called Mixed Emotions. Still, I can easily sympathize with Blackjack here; his Tracy collection is invaluable to him, beyond mere auction price. It is well that the collection be kept intact and in safe storage.
And, while the collection probably does not include any Lincoln memorabilia, it might nonetheless in some way spur Honeymoon’s (e.g.) interest and lead to some research on the faux phonautograph object that Bea Thorndike has let herself be conned into purchasing at some absurdly inflated price!
The New York Times Says that a Houston police officer died trying to get to work.
“Officials confirmed that Sgt. Steve Perez, of the Houston Police Department, died in floodwaters Sunday on his way to work. Mr. Perez, 60, left his home around 4 a.m. on Sunday and spent at least two and a half hours trying to make his way to work, Chief Acevedo said. When he wasn’t heard from, officials began a search. A dive team recovered his body Tuesday morning.
“Unfortunately, in the darkness, Sergeant Perez drove onto an underpass,” Chief Acevedo said.

Assuming Blackjack acquired said collection via honest means?

It’s interesting that a “Tracy Memorabilia” collection should be referenced adjacent to a mention of the Cleveland Library.

Here comes a thought …
Might Tracy take that collection to the library for safekeeping?therese_callahan2002 about 7 years ago
Does he really think the Nitrates would steal his memorabilia?

Dick Tracy might discover that the favor is rather bigger than he thinks.
Also, how would it appear if Dick was discovered to keep a large collection extolling himself? Wendy Wichel is sure to have a field day with it. :-)

Yes, I can see several difficulties possible with this agreement. Tracy’s response also seems to me a bit casual- I wonder what he’s got in mind?

This bromance is almost as creepy as the Nitrates! LOL!

His collection is largely Tracy-related, but MIGHT he have some older collectibles? Like a few of Lincoln?

Just yell me where your hideout is…

Did the police not raid Blackjack’s hideout after his arrest? If not, why not? If so, then the police are already in possession of BJ’s collection.

And so the net tightens….

I would love to see a reformed Blackjack get a pardon around Christmas-time.

I wonder if Tracy will look after Bribery’s shrunken head collection after he catches him?
