Still have mine that I got in 2001. Still does what I need it to do (provides a means of maintaining contact with home base while traveling) and I am not at the mercy of every yahoo that thinks I need to see a picture of their current meal, funny pet antic or inane message that I couldn’t care less about.
I prefer to control my own Life not to be controlled by unneeded technology. There is Life without smartphones and a much simpler more relaxed one. There is a whole World full of Beautiful things that you are missing looking at that stupid phone.
A phone, whether fixed to the wall or carried in the pocket, is merely a means of remote communication. That in itself is fine but to see and hear people having lengthy (& loud) conversations about pure trivia whilst involved in other things is an indication of just how meaningless their lives must be. I use a mobile phone for emergencies and to tell someone that, “I’ll be arriving in ten minutes, put the kettle on”.
How about back when the most sophisticated portable device was a slide rule. There were computers, but they were too big and too expensive for portable use.
I just got my first smart device. I resisted, but I travel so much and wanted a reliable GPS device, way to look up information as well as call people/text that I decided one device was better than several. I figure if I don’t like it, I can sell it and go back to a flip phone. I have not gotten rid of my old flip phone – just in case. :o)

My whole family still uses flip phones. Never had a cracked screen or a butt dial.

I still miss the ringtone I had with my second flip phone. Don’t miss the calling plan though.
