I had a hard time paying attention in class. 9/10 of the time, it was either something they’d already said, repeated for the class morons, or something I already knew. When something new and important came up, it tended to fly right past me.
Somewhere, starting in the 70s US public education went off the tracks. IMPO it happened when school counselors started promoting college over all else. In a one size fits all direction, public schools for the most part just ignored non college careers. Like say the Building Trades now over 5 million jobs available or like the technical jobs in factories, now with over 3 million empty slots. ,Fact is, HS started just teaching the “TEST”ignoring everything else. Which IMPO is why over 50% of incoming college freshmen have to take remedial classes in both math and English before they can start taking “real college classes”. We have failed our children.
@linguist: Ditto, and, IMHO, if colleges and u’s had retained those disciplines, and if they had enforced the 5-year graduation requirement, more of their graduates might be full time participants in the improvement of society instead of simply drifting along with the chaos we now experience. Of course, they would have helped ever further by place a hold on their over inflated costs instead of pulling a hold up on enrollees.
@keenanthelibrarian: Humble does not mean one is less capable of offering reasonable or thoughtful views. Offering one’s humble opinion is simply a way of stating one’s thoughts in a non threatening and non confrontational manner.

When you’re asking a miniature horse for help on a pop quiz, it’s safe to say that you’re toast.

Isn’t that exactly what her dad told her? She can’t get any help from anybody.

So what is ‘reality’ to Danae? Obviously someone’s ‘alter ego’ is clashing with her.
