If it’s leftovers, Tommy seems okay. It may not taste great, but it seems edible.

Ever the intrepid reporter Elvis, however if they’re leftovers they are most likely not poisonous. Not that kitties should be nibbling on the people’s plants – are you listening Sam and Dean?? (hint hint, nudge nudge)

Panel 2 simply breaks my heart. Silly how much a cartoon cat can make you cry.

Oh, good. We now get notifications over here! Check it out in the top navigation menu. In that I can now see who likes my comments. But do we get notified for comment replies too? Did any of you get notified that someone replied to your comment? The reply notification would be the most useful, for it’s nearly impossible to go and look back at every comment one makes. (I don’t even remember what, where all and how many I make over here, on this site!)

Love Elvis’ skepticism! Well, I suppose he can deduce that since they are plants left over from “breakfast” and Tommy appears to be bright and bushy tail, there is nothing amiss with that particular plant. My heart breaks for Tommy in panel 2. Aww! He misses being told he’s a good boy! He IS a very good boy! Always! @Jacqueline: Please give us an update when you can about how you’re doing . . I’m feeling kinda worried since I didn’t see you comment anymore yesterday.

Totally unrelated: please pray for my mother. She was riding her bike yesterday, as she often does, and she hit a wet spot on a wooden bridge. Her bike lost traction, and she shot off it into some blackberry bushes. She struck her head – thank God she was wearing a helmet. I drove her to Urgent Care, where she received stitches in one hand, and was told her thumb had a hairline fracture. They assured her that her knee wasn’t broken, but it is troubling her, so she returned today for an MRI scan on her knee. She will know what (if anything) is damaged sometime tomorrow. This is the only serious accident she has had in 30+ years of biking. The worst part is: today is her birthday. She is keeping her chin up, but she is very active, and hates being injured and in pain. I don’t want to steal the spotlight from Tommy, but if you can, please pray for my mother’s knee and hand to heal well.

TOMMY would be the first to offer comfort and support to your dear mother! Pucky is offering a virtual cup of hot tea! The BCN Mega Orb is here for her, as well as you, (you sound pretty shaken up, too)!

My orb is gently pressing against yours with prayers (your mother is, naturally, a BIG part of your orb!). I know mine’s just one of an army of loving orbs. Together, we’ve got you!>^.,.^<

. . . a couple of weeks ago, I read a comment from a VERY angry woman, who wrote that a neighbor had killed two of her cats. It made me angry and I went to the website that she posted. It turned out to be the site for her local police department. Try to imagine my shock, when the first thing that I saw was a picture of someone, who looked like my husband’s nephew! Wow! Unbelievable! He had shot and killed a man with two young children! When, my husband returned, I showed him the site and he said, “Yes, that’s him!” His nephew has always had anger management issues, though we were still shocked! He didn’t have to “shoot to kill”, though the judged ruled in his favor. Knowing his history, I believe that the murder was preventable, the judge erred, though God will have the last say. Sad. :’(

The world would be a much better place if there were more Tommys in it. I think that’s why I like it so much here. The BCN comments section is just filled with Tommys and you all warm my heart so much! Now, if we could just get this to spill out into the world a little more.

I finally got my BCN calendar at Barnes and Noble! (I had ordered it because they didn’t have any in store). I was disappointed that I hadn’t been able to get it earlier but turns out, Georgia did a big “cat family” portrait for the last 4 months of this year. I opened it up and just loved it! I peeked at January but refuse to see the rest until the month the calendar is due to turn over. Very well done Georgia!

@Rosette, I tried replying to your comment on your mum and it keeps putting @Gent at the front as I had just replied to him – stupid new fangled “fixes” .. grumble, grumble

Anyway, I just wanted to say I hope your mum gets good news today and she has a speedy recovery from her other injuries :) Best wishes to her for her birthday and I hope she can still enjoy her day!

Dear fellowship of the Mega Orb: Today we have encountered a negative force that seeks to burst our bubbles. As I stated a day or two ago, it might do best to simply not respond. What the negative forces seek to do is build themselves up by knocking others down. Why feed their need to hurt?

I beg of you, if you don’t appreciate something, simply do not like or comment. Flag if it distresses you.

Deep love and appreciation for the loving and supportive orbs that fill Georgia’s BCN Mega Orb with joy, hope, happiness, care, sympathy, and wonder!

I only keep one plant in a house of 4 kitties, Rosemary. Try as them might, they just can’t bring themselves to eat it. It’s funny to watch them sniff it, them try to take a bite and just shake their little heads and walk away, like how can some that looks so tasty smell so bad! I’m going to plant it in the spring but at least I know it will last until then. Poor kitties fooled again. Yes I used to grow cat grass for them but it only lasted about 2 minutes before it was gone.

I help out with a local registered cat colony. Many of them have been born there and are feral. You have to earn their trust to come within petting distance. Someone had dumped a beautiful orange tabby one day. The lady that is the primary got him close enough to start petting him. After that, he would come closer. He was too friendly to be a feral. He was a dump. There are many people that walk that path and one day, he’s following an older lady down the path. I looked at the woman that is the primary and said that I’ll bet that he belonged to an older person that has either died or had to go someplace that didn’t accept pets. She was able to bring him in to the vet and he had a chip. The son of the elderly gentleman had the cat and had “rehomed” him. Don’t worry, he has a new home now. It really saddens me when people see a colony and decide, oh, they are feeding the cats, I’ll just dump this cat that I can either no longer care for or no longer wants. Without even trying to find a new home.

In the original, the plants weren’t “hopefully” non-poisonous. I wonder why that got changed?

Well, this is a new one! My “likes” keep disappearingI I KNOW that I’ve liked tons of comments today, yet, when I re-read them, I have to re-“like” constantly.

Also, I can no longer respond to a response. I think some of you have reported this, too.

Maybe some of you can get through to the techs. I was contacted by a GoComic tech an hour ago. The URL is https://universalclick.zendesk.com/hc/en-us. I’m short on time now & they’ll be closed for the day pretty soon.

On trolls I didn’t see it, but I gather from the comments that someone was pissing about the requests for “prayers,” etc. Now, I’m a “dirty realist,” and not a religious person—I’m a spiritual person. When someone with trouble makes that kind of request, I read it as a request for encouragement, companionship, positive feedback, kind thoughts, and spiritual support. Nothing wrong with that request, regardless of how phrased, and regardless of the positive response given. A negative response to such a request is dehumanizing—to the negative responder. Nothing any of us can say, no matter how well we say it, can do that troll more damage than they have done to themselves.

John Adams said: “There are only two kinds of people of worth in this world, those who have commitment, and those who require the commitment of others.” In modern English, that statement has two interpretations, his original meaning, and the second, more modern one. When a fellow being, regardless of species, is in need, it requires our commitment. I will not willingly have ANYTHING to do with a person who does not at least give that a nod of approval, regardless of their actions.

After all, I am a Founding Fellow Emeritus of the John Adams Society—obnoxious, disliked, and always first in line to be hanged. ;^D
