So sad, it’s usually the innocent who get punished first…

We don’t know for sure that the wolf was innocent. His story is plausible but the details are sketchy. Walt isn’t insane, so he didn’t go into a rage, but he’s not going to take the wolf at his word either, under the circumstances.

That’s more wisdom than I can recall seeing from anyone in Endtown for a while now. Kudos to Mr. Neathery for the thoughtful writing!

When in doubt, kill ’em all and let Satan sort them out.

Get out while the getting is good, Wolfie, or become Walt’s punching bag.

Wait, is that the same wolf who said “NOT GUILTY!” from the rooftops? I mean, he sort of looks like him, but I could be wrong. Stupid TCP/IP not accepting the smell-o-vision standard.

His story is sketchy. All the places to go in Endtown…why here? Why with her?

He doesn’t seem tall enough, and I noticed this before, to see through the door window. Still, one panel showed him looking through the window. Maybe he was on tip toes. He didn’t look guilty but for the the “zip gun” we didn’t know about. It is suspicious that he “happened” to be at Portia’s door out of all the houses in Endtown.

A zipgun against military hardware. Shoot yourself……cheat the Rats out of a confirmed kill. Seems like they have a lack of housing. The wolf can’t make it back to his lair.

Interesting idea – the prey asks the victim to hide him.

Considering the phonecall Walt got in an earlier strip, I don’t think he’s gonna believe anyone is safe.

If the wolf can protect himself with the zipgun as he claims, then he doesn’t need to hide, does he?

With the wolf going away/gone, now Walt can fill Portia in on what’s going on.

He wanted to hide, but he wanted bacon for breakfast, too.

Wait…“They’re killing wolves left and right”?! Has the purge already started? Are the rats firing upon the mob that was parading Heather’s body around? Chasing down and killing all wolves? Or…is this just exaggeration by the wolf? "I just had this improvised weapon to protect against the military police…and NOT to kill the “loose end” of a pig that dared to go against our wishes to sacrifice herself to us."

He picked the wrong place to hide. Even when Walt was the mayor, the rats didn’t exactly answer to him. They barely acknowledged him. They were bowing to the High Council, and would have drilled Walt with bullet holes with one word from them.

And besides… Why would Walt allow a wolf to be anywhere near his beloved Portia? Especially after what she’s had to endure! Starving herself, being attacked by wolves, finding out her brother had been eaten…

Maybe he should try Dottie’s place…

I guess Walt’s going to show him the same mercy that his lupine brothers showed Heather…

Tbh the wolf is rather coherent at the time, so he might be telling … sort of … the truth. On a sidenote it is rather hard to run when a bear got you by the wrist.

“They’re killing wolves left and right” You reap what you sow, but chances are they were all pawns.
