This sounds a lot like a scheme of Catbert’s. In fact, the two characters have a fair amount in common. Maybe Rat is somehow the son of Ratbert and Catbert.

Now there’s a cause I could get behind.

Not sure what’s worse – that Pig is giving his life’s savings to support Rat’s foolish cause, or that that’s all the money he has in life savings.
