As long as she only āassists,ā & doesnāt do it for him, itās ok, but next time, he should tank. But that might not help. Procrastination in some people is not a habit so much as it is an inability to concentrate. We know what a gifted day dreamer Calvin is, that is part of the syndrome too.
Ah come on, I wouldnāt ever consider mom finding a shoebox as assisting in school work! Much better than if he just took on his own some box (that latter appeared to be one mom had kept for a special purpose) for his diorama. Now of course glue and paper and such should normally be accessible for kid himself, but it may be different with a Calvinā¦
Calvin was almost telling the teacher the truth. From my experience with Calvin, he has very little left to do on the project, because he will be putting very little time into the remainder. So he only needs a little more time to finish.
Not one of my favorite story lines. I used to be a teacher, and itās difficult enough without having parents who do NOTHING to motivate or encourage their kids.
I have a Grade 8 history project that I havenāt started yet. Iāll get around to it eventually ā itās only 32 years past due! I wonder if the teacher is still aliveā¦ (Somehow I passed history, even without handing in that assignment.)
Yeahā¦desertā¦.hmmmā¦prehistoric desert he he he. Sandā¦innocent roadrunnerā¦Tyranosaurus Rex lunging to devour unsuspecting roadrunnerā¦Saber toothed Hobbes waiting to snag the fleeing roadrunner bwa ha ha ha. Iād have done this sooner if Iād known how fun it would be.
Submachine said,
short for bra.
Thatās clever; bra is short for brassiere. Thatās a bizarre thought for a bazaar. Maybe Miss Wormwood will throw it all into a brazier made in Brazil! Sheās brazen enough to do it.
Calvin was āspinelessā, unlike the cactus, in not admitting that he hadnāt even started his project, so if Miss Wormwood discovers it and decides to dispose of Calvinās diorama, she might inadvertently contract Cactus Dermatitis from the spines. That would be Calvinās revenge.
Wow that reminds me of all of my days in school. I donāt think I ever turned anything in on time in my life. My problem was they always gave out the assignments TOO SOON. Hence I was never ready to start them. If they had given the assignments later I would have been on time with them. (Thatās my story and Iām sticking to it.)
I still wake up in a cold sweat after a recurring nightmare. In it I show up to Calculus IV or one of the various Physics classes, only to find out that we are having an exam. Itās at that point that I realize I havenāt been attending the class all quarter!
Once awake, I am still shaken trying to remember long-forgotten integral solutions.
I had better stop typing now. The horrible memories are starting to come back!
starbase502 ā Iām with you ā by the time the assignment was due, I had forgotten all about it. They gave us way too long to complete the projects.
In line with your dream Mister Ed, ā I had students who called to ask when the final exam was ā several days after the final exam had been given. Do they ever read the syllabus, come to class, pay attention when I read it to them? No!
Calvin never hands things in on time or ever have them complete. Reminds me of a kid in my grade school classes, who also shared some high school classes too. Beats me how the fella ever made it out of school.
