The very first news story I remember following was back in the late 40s. A little girl had fallen into a well – a sort of metal pipe – and they worked for days to rescue her. She kept sliding further down, and died before she could be pulled out.
The second was lying on my stomach, watching the Democratic convention on TV, and hoping Estes Kefauver would win the nomination. I have a thank-you letter he wrote to my dad, saying it was “mighty nice” of him to send a $5 contribution. In 1952, $5 was a LOT more than it is now.
I remember all the things mentioned in today’s strip and a few more besides. As to the second question, I haven’t misplaced my phone(s), I know exactly where it is (they are).
I remember a few things about the 60s. The assassinations of JFK, RFK and MLK, the Cuban missile crisis, the Beatles, Woodstock, the moon landing and my first kiss. The rest is pretty much a fog.

Where is everybody?
Tony’s question, whenever you get here….
is “Remember that?”
Â
Well, of course I do, Tony…
though it’s all from different decades.
(It’s probably all the same to somebody who’s only ten, though.)
Â
There was a fuss about President Obama’s Blackberry, and whether or not he could keep it after he was inaugurated….
He did, and there are newer ones still being made.
OTOH, I remember reading a few years ago that Baby Jessica had turned 30.
I thought maybe Pete was wearing some 1980’s Hammer style pants…. but we can’t see ’em so who knows.
Â
But yeah… I remember.
And a lot farther back.

It’s next to his flip-phone and his Nelly Furtado CD’s.

When you find it, trade it for the kid’s; after all, you’re paying for both of them.

@Tony:
Do I remember that? Yes I…uh…hmmm, that’s funny, I knew it a moment ago. But I won’t forget to ask today’s…
Second “Daddy’s Home” Question:
Where have you misplaced your iPhone (or whatever phone you have)?
