I think Jacob’s nitpicking. Maybe he didn’t say “go out and eat each other” but in a post-apocalyptic civilization where many foodstuffs are scarce or at a premium, how long would it take for the “embracers” to do just that. Better to embrace the HUMAN part to my mind.

I agree with Jacob. Don’t eat poor mutants.

    Eat the rich.

Now i’m getting an inkling of what Aaron Marx had in mind for Jacob & Endtown’s future.

Upheaval for the Greater Good, and Jacob learning the hard way to be careful what he wishes for… Aaron Marx is a harsh teacher.

Dottie’s expression in panel 3 says it all. “I never thought about it that way…” Hard as it may be for me to say, there’s just the tiniest possibility that Jake may not be 100% wrong after all. Who knew???

Wow – I didn’t expect to be exactly right on Friday’s comments, but here we are. Will Dottie leave the room alive and free?

Looks like Jacob’s wised up to expecting unintended consequences.

wait…that’s what his movement was about, avoiding Schism syndrome? I feel like you would avoid schism syndrome by remembering that you, and by extension everyone around you, are still human; not by some insane animal pride movement which would only make the problem worse…

I hate being cynical but seeing varying fights in person, I always also said “It isn’t a fight where the best man wins, it’s making sure the other guy never gets back up”.

I hate to admit this, but both Dottie and Jacob (unsympathetic as they are) have a point.

I’d hate to say it, but Endtown is going to go through an incredibly painful initial purge that will permanently scar the minds of everyone who survives. The problem is you need a stone-calm guild afterwards that know what’s at stake and has the power to make consistently correct calls. I said it once, I’ll say it again. It’s time to get out there and find Wally!

The question now is, is Endtown running into the situation that Marx foresaw? Is the selection of Jacob “for the better good” specifically because someone’s manipulating the wolves to take over?

Poor Jacob Jackrabbit… All he wanted to do was save people from losing their minds. He wanted them to feel good about themselves after waking up to find themselves looking more like farm/zoo animals.

That way of thinking would probably work… if food was more plentiful. Endtowners mostly have to live on canned beans. A diet like that could have lasting effects on animals that are meant to be carnivores. And, of course, some people have been turned into animals that have been a source of food for (shall we say…) centuries.

Now for any hard-core carnivore that has been living on beans, news of a food shortage is all it would take for them to be so desperate for food that they would let their so-called ‘animal instincts’ take over and do what their animal namesakes would do…

They would go after the animals known for being ‘prey’.

This is why the pigs are being targeted first. Sure, there are also chickens, ducks and cows in Endtown as well, but these animals can provide eggs and milk. They can do more for Endtown by staying alive, and the ‘predators’ know it. Even Holly knew how to make cheese. She should have been commended. Instead, she was persecuted. Sure, the law has been changed to allow mutant eggs and milk to be added to menus, but it’s too late to save Holly, isn’t it?

But then the day may come when there are no more pigs to eat. Care to guess who the predators will go after next? Rabbits, perhaps…?

So was Dottie just covering her ears while Jacob poked and prodded Lucas into attacking? did she not hear how Jacob instegated a genocidal action against an entire species with nothing but the assumption of guilt by association?

Lucas was dead the moment he was caught by the rats, gunned down in that hallway or while leaping over the desk, he wasn’t leaving alive.

This whole week has been interesting, even the comments, out side of the leaking over into to real world stuff. Maybe it is supposed to be relevant to the realities of real life, but that bit took a toll on many of us.

There is still the question of who has really been eating the pigs? I suspect the wolves were just being set up to take the fall before things got out of hand.

‘:’‘’( I-I never meant to make this happen,,, I just wanted people to accept themselves,,,’ Nope. Not buying it for a second, Jack. This is the man who, rather than arguing his points based on logic, morality or facts, flooded the (almost nonexistent) opposing side with plants to make ‘human values’ and those who held them seem as insane as possible. This is the man who did everything he could to get a mutant woman and her human partner executed for ‘racial’ mixing. This is the man who gleefully sacrificed Holly and two other innocent women for political gain. Who knew damn well that his actions could (and did) lead to a riot that caused the deaths of at least thirty and destroyed all public faith in the armed enforcement.

He doesn’t get to claim innocence here or anywhere else.

And more importantly, he’s either not been told or hasn’t cared to look at Doc Chase’s information about the bones – the wolves were never the culprits, hence their complete difference in methods from the phone-druggers. By trying to make it about wolves again he’s ignoring who could actually be behind the pigs disappearances – which, it should be noted, he has not been shown taking a single action against.

This is one of those cases where “Instructions Unclear” should not be followed with “…So I decided to eat my fellow apocalyptic survivors.”

Can Dottie get any blinder? Seems no matter what an individual does, their are never guilty in her opinion, that is unless it’s someone she hates.

I have a feeling that at one point Jackrabbit will understand what Allgood was trying to work for. And maybe we will see Allgood face Jackrabbit again, in the afterlife, with Jackrabbit frustrated at the idea of Allgood feeling empathetic sadness for Jackrabbit rather than gloating in his face.
