Is Pucky hoping for ham in panel two? And if the Baby isn’t fast enough around the chicken-there are two good Boys who will lick the bowl clean. Good kitties. ;)
Looks as if Puck and Elvis are getting a bigger share of the chicken than the baby gets. Poor Elvis just can’t grasp that the good little boy comment was not referring to him this time.
My mom rescued a cat named Oma who was the last of her feral group to be captured. The poor kitty spent a week hiding behind the water heater, scaring off any who dared approach with a hiss that belonged to some ancient hellbeast. Eventually Ozma learned to trust my mom, but she still had to figure out how to coexist with the family dog. The first time we tried to introduce them, Ozma nearly took my eye out trying to escape from Phoebe, middle name Licious, the 9lb mini schnauzer who wanted nothing in life but to be Ozma’s bfff (best fizzy friend forever).
We worked out a system where I would hold Phoebe at one end of the couch and mom would hold Ozma at the other end, and we would feed them tiny spoonfuls of baby food chicken puree. Over the course of many weeks, we inched them closer together, until eventually they were eating off the same spoon. They became BFFFs and would snuggle together on the couch. Ozma liked being the little spoon.
I LOVE the Baby’s “But Mommy, this stuff’s YUCKY! Why are you making me EAT it?!” look in the carrots panel. I agree, kiddo, I agree! Always so fun introducing babies to solid food and new flavors. And one would think the Woman’d be a bit more attentive regarding the location of the three cats when providing the Baby with food the cats may be interested in “sharing.” The Baby can’t grow into a well trained kitty servant if you don’t let him eat his dinner, boys!
And there you have it! Mommy’s good little boy is of course Elvis. I think “beets” is the winner here judging from the high velocity spatter and width of the grins! Haha!
My Fearless loves Applesauce. His first few min. with me I had been Eating Applesauce before I heard him. I grabbed him, put his burned paws ( Phoenix in August ) and started to make up kitten milk replacer for him. As I shook the KMR to mix it, he was eating the applesauce as fast as he could. He was 3 weeks old. It didn’t harm him, and he drank his bottle just fine. He is on the desk with me and 10 of his brothers and sisters all around. He likes applesauce and so does Sophia, they are quite a bunch.
Looks like the Woman is making baby purée from scratch as well as using commercial food. What a good Mommy! And I definitely agree with the baby about applesauce, especially homemade applesauce. Yum
I have to go with the little guy on his take on carrots. Yuck. I had chicken last night so I had all those little helpers too. I know just how helpful the kitties can be.
Good for The Woman for mashing her own. I’ve read that you really have to be careful with commercial baby food since many are full of things to make it taste good – salt, sugar, etc. that baby doesn’t need.
I just noticed on a re-read that for Beets the baby doesn’t have a shirt on! Looks like Mommy anticipated wisely. And so did Lupin because he’s wearing a bib!!!
The Woman must be really tired at the end of each day after cleaning up the mess the boys leave. That’s probably why she sleeps through the 2 am running of the cats!

Elvis is such a good little boy-always willing to help the Baby try out new foods. But I don’t think he’ll like sweet potatoes.

See Lupin-you don’t need paint in order to decorate the walls! Beets will do nicely.
Meanwhile Elvis fears the worst in the face of all that red. Someone must be dying.

The Baby’s more interested in hugs than chicken, but Puck is more interested in chicken than hugs.

It’s gonna take a lot of washing to get the beet juice off Lupin’s face, lol.

I agree with the baby about rice cereal. I do like carrots, though.I like beetroot, too, but I still end up like the baby and Lupin.

And that was about how old my son was the last time he ate vegetables.

I feel like these are all true to real life – what a lovely glimpse into the baby’s personality!

Why am I not surprised that Lupin is “painting” with the beets. And that Elvis is horrified by that :)

Note to Staff: Please stop frightening Elvis with beets. He does not enjoy being frightened and no one likes to be near a frightened Elvis.

(Also, the cleanup is quite a chore).

Maybe baby would like carrots better with some maple syrup? Course honey is good too but not for babies right?
On another note – I would LOVE to have a picture of baby and Lupin and beets! 8)

Love the Baby’s expression in response to carrots! :)On the downside…thinking about the joys of introducing my twins to solid foods… :/
