Well, there goes the civil war idea. Their atmosphere apparently just started degrading and it was too late to save it. It seems to be a subtle warning to us about climate change in Earth.
I’d say Antarctica, in the No Fly zone would be ideal for them. But what do they eat? They might have problems from the Antarctic Nazis who hide there. Santa too has his Xmas town base in that area. Kinda crowded there. Though ole Santa and the Light Elves will be much nicer to them than those Ultima Thule Nazis and their super weapons.
I haven`t been following the dick tracy strip for a few decades but I see they`re still running with the concept of moon valley. I first started reading about moon valley in the 1950s This is based on the fact that the moon wobbles on its axis with respect to the earth, so we see more than fifty percent of the moon`s surface during the month. Moon Valley is supposedly in that portion of the moon. That might make sense if the moon received it`s light from the earth but it doesn`t. The moon receives sunlight over it`s whole surface during the month so the inhabitants of moon valley would have been fried long ago. I`m sure this has been pointed out many times before as I`m not exceptionally smart. whew I`ve been wanting to get that off my chest since the 1950s.
This makes me wonder then; Where did they come from, in the first place? A lunar pocket wouldn’t allow a bipedal, sapient species to evolve to an advanced species. Especially a species that can cross-breed. They sound like a sub-species of human. Interesting.
/giggles/ Maybe they live in my place, Appalachia? There’s rumors there’s an Area51 somewhere here, but I haven’t found it. Certainly plausible as it’s very isolated in places.
Moon Valley was a closed biome that supported life courtesy of an extremely delicately-balanced ecosystem. The population was most likely small since Lunarians had lifespans that reached hundreds of years.
When Diet Smith Industries established commercial ties with Moon Valley, the increased influx of air-breathing humans put a strain on the oxygen supply, which, not noticeable initially, gradually exacerbated, even after the Terrans had left when all ties were cut by the Moon Governor.
By the time the Lunarians identified this problem, it had reached the point of no return. This left evacuation as the only alternative.
My guess is that all the Moonies settled in California. Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown gave them all voters ID cards, a State Welfare Check, an EBT card, and every other one got a seat in the State Legislature.
Though our insight might be clouded by all the cigar smoke from these two old-time gents, the fact is that Diet Smith is, once again, a device for exposition, this time by Ex-Gov giving the short version of What Happened to the Lunarians. It is a way of clearing the board and allowing for as much or as little in the way of Further Adventures of the Lunarians as Mike may choose, down the line. But, for right now, I expect a quick return to the new “Ghost” story-arc….

I guess they didn’t want to live in domed cities or lava tubes.

Figured that was the problem.

As to their location I’m still betting on Antarctica. Still a lot about that continent that is unknown.

While I’m happy to see X-Guv catch up with Diet, isn’t catching up with family (Honeymoon) more important to him?

Are they illegal? They may have trouble from one in D.C.

Does anyone know how many people lived in the Moon Valley?

Doesn’t sound as if they’ll be much help with climate change then.

Another possibility. How about in one of the deep Pacific trenches? Undetectable, and more food sources than they could find in the Antarctic.

This may have happened:

Hey, anything is possible.

Sigh …. it’s days like this that make me wish Dick Tracy had remained a strictly Earth-bound strip. Save the science fiction stuff for Flash Gordon.
