I had that happen to me. The doors were designed so they could always be opened from the inside. This is a safety issue, in case of fire or other emergency requiring building evacuation.
But, bringing home groceries one day, I went in with some bags, mistakenly leaving my key in the lock on the outside. When the door closed, the key somehow caused the lock to jam, so I couldn’t open the door from the inside. I had to call building security.
