Hard to imagine banks involving private citizens and their PCs for secure money transfers. Does anyone know if the cartoonists did any research for this story?
I found the cloud!!!! Itâs in a place on the east side of Las Vegas that is called âSwitchâ. I know a couple of folks who have done contracting work in there, and the security is unbelievable.
I have heard about scientists needing more computing power to find the last digit of Ď for example or some such nonsense, so a call went out to leave your machines on like overnight and grant access etc.
Like the way the government was supposed to ship stuff all over the country on different routes at different times on different days, all kept secret (except to whichever villain wanted the info), maybe the idea is that if no one knows when you do it, everything would be safe.
Right?⌠I said ârightâ?
Hello? Is that crickets I hear chirping, or is my tinnitus acting up?
Topperâs extortion/protection scheme is just another reason to avoid the Cloud, despite all the hype about its âsecurity,â and to avoid virtual monetization (Bitcoin, etc.) likewise. As far as I am concerned, cash is still king and not subject to hacker attacks. Nor Matty Squared attacks.
My first thought was data centers â owned by private individuals, rented by companies.I remember working in a corporate data center (owned by a large bank whoâs initials remind me of certain very large tropical snakes), and finding out it was just the front-end. The back side was a variety of privately owned data centers. They were scattered around the globe. The data was spread between the different locations**, periodically switching. But on the 2000+ servers we had (that front-end) at our specific location, the data could be retrieved. The data was multiply-mirrored, so losing even several data centers would not have any effect on the ability to retrieve the data.
**This meant that the data was secure â even on a data farm larger than our data center, you could not get ANY usable data except thru a front end.

Why does Topper remind me of Dr. Evil demanding; âOne Million Dollars!â?
Things advance very slowly in Tracyville.

Maybe from private server companies who have their own âcloudâ

Topper somehow reminds me about a Golden Age comic villain called âMonocleâ who had tricked out eye pieces.

There is no such thing as a secure webpage!
