Cats are so tiny in comparison to those actual scum-sucking monsters. Puck will have to be braver than he’s ever been before. You can do it Puck! I’ll be cheering you on from behind the couch.
I’m just throwing this out there but have any of the Boys considered the vacuum cleaner’s feelings? Maybe it’s lonely in its lair and just trying to be friends. Maybe it envies the Boys camaraderie. Perhaps Tommy could interview it.
On the other paw, Lupin is correct. If they don’t put the scum sucking monster in its place now, they may never be able to contain it. RRR and chaos will reign. Cats must be able to live free of fear, to nap where they choose, sit where they want and not have to shed so often to establish ownership of the couch. They only have so much fur!
“Vacuum cleaners are actual scum sucking monsters.” Well . . . yes, they kinda are. Lupin got that right, at least. Of course, he’s also correct that the deaf cat is probably the best choice to do the actual batting. It’s a lot easier when the primitive, “That noise! It’s gonna eat me!” portion of your brain isn’t screaming at your legs to run away from there NOW.
I have bad news for the cord chewing Kitties- The Woman has been searching on-line for a cordless Dyson with pet hair attachment! On another level, I just sold my vacuum-well it was just gathering dust.!!
I’ve had a lot of cats and every one reacted differently to the “scum-sucking-monster”. Tigger loved to be vacuumed, Patches felt acknowledging the vacuum cleaner was beneath him. Marmite and Tristan thought it was play-time and would attack the cord, hose, any tool I left unguarded and my feet! All the rest varied in the “aaahhh” reaction. And now, Josephine Louisa March; I have to give her warning, so she can scramble for upstairs, or downstairs, to get out of Dodge City!!!
Good morning and happy Hump Day, orbsters and orbabies! I feel so sorry for Pucky, willing to do his best for his friends, but afraid of the monster in the closet! On the home front, weather is slowly getting warmer. Paul and I were out yesterday and the day before without jackets! Today is a bit cooler and it’s going to rain.
Lupin is so sensitive to Pucky, and I love that he acknowledges that Pucky is the better boxer! can’t wait to see that strip!!!!! one of my all-time faves, but must contain my enthusiasm.
Can’t you just see the boys dealing with a Roomba? Elvis would argue with it, puck would try to make friends with it, and Lupin would ride it around the house!
The irony in my house is that my vacuums are used for kitty hair (and a little dog hair) and kitty litter almost exclusively. Mostly I use the shop vac to get the dust woolly mammoths of cat hair and the copious amounts of litter from around the cat boxes. A broom does the rest of the house fine after that. The cat aren’t too fazed by the Dyson unless I get within 2 feet of them. Then it is off to the races.
Discovered this week that the new cat was afraid of the vacuum (the older two give it a “meh”). Also discovered a Siamese can fit in the space behind the counter-top corner microwave…
I love this comic strip so much! Georgia really “gets” cats, and her love for them is evident. If you read this, Ms. Dunn, thank you for daily dose of fun! <3

One morning I heard what sounded like a herd of elephants thundering up the stairs. Our stairs have a turn in them with a landing and all 3 of my cats were on the upper part of the stairs looking down. Then I heard the unmistakable sound of the dreaded shop vac! I knew Mike wasn’t home, but I couldn’t imagine someone breaking in just to vacuum the den (though I wouldn’t complain), so I crept down the stairs with the boys watching me fearfully. I found the shop vac on and sitting in the den all alone. Though the boys never fessed up to it I believe they were taking turns jumping on it and, most likely, rabbit kicking it for good measure. It turns on by means of a toggle switch on top and I think one of them knocked it on in their exuberance, and then all ran away to avoid being sucked up by that dreaded monster! Mike and I have laughed heartily about that adventure of theirs for years. They’ve all passed on now, but their escapades are always in my heart.
Yes, I know I’m a soft touch, (was there ever any doubt?) but I’ve welcomed another little one into my home. Dee is about a month/month & a half old black kitten from the colony. She already has a MASSIVE respiratory infection, and they’re calling for more storms this week. After losing Phoenix at about the same age to secondary drowning after a storm, I couldn’t stand to take the chance. The other kids aren’t sure what to make of this lol
Do any of you remember the sound of a 1959 Kirby, with more attachments than my wife’s 1981 shop Smith? We had it for many years until it sucked up part of a Volvo 122s I was repairing. Puck should feed dreaded dragon RRRR a piece of metal. Big clash & immediate silence.

Oh, Puck. I have so many bad feelings about all of this. I’ll give you a hug and you give me one too.

I think The Woman is being extra diligent in cleaning in preparation for Baby No. 2.

One of my cats will run, one sleeps through it and one stares at and refuses to move. The Evil Vacuum is the same theme as Overboard today.

When Pucky gets distressed like that, I just want to pick him up and hold him until all the bad things go away.

I love Lupin’s paw on Puck’s shoulder in panel four as Lupin sympathizes with and encourages his friend. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
