I heard yanny, but when the pitch was shifted 40% lower I heard laurel.

I don’t care.

I see Roy is still stuck with red hair. Maybe they’ll keep him like that. Although I see he’s not the only one suffering hair issues.

I could hear both, other ‘laurel’ louder. This, despite the fact I am half dead!!

I´m amazed people waste time on these things today …

Is it age related? I’m over 70 and hear yanny when the TV news shows run it.

It’s because the two words are registered together, one with a slightly higher pitch. Depending on your hearing loss (older people don’t hear as high as younger ones) and your loudspeakers, you’ll hear either one or the other.

absolutely no clue what this is about, but please, no one send me a link, it sounds awful.

First heard it on my pc and heard Laurel, then heard it on the tv and heard Yanney. Guess it First heard it on my PC and heard Laurel, then heard it on TV and heard Yanney. Guess it also depends on Sound system guality.

It is Laurel when I listen to it on line. However, a local radio station played it one time and it sounded like “Yanny”, then they played it a few minutes later and it was back to “Laurel”. Weird.

So when will everyone be put back to normal, that is, normal for them?

So what do you hear in Manfred Mann’s song “Blinded by the Light” when he is supposedly singing “Revved up like a Deuce”?

Guess which one Yanni hears? ☺

And, if he were alive, I think I know which one Stan Laurel would hear… ☺

Trying to decide whether I should be disappointed, embarrassed, happy or smug about it.

I was fully expecting this to show up today in Working Daze (kudos to John and Scott for another timely comic – just like the white and gold vs. blue and black dress thing [which to me looked very obviously lavender and brown, but that’s another story])! Was the laurel / yanny thing even around before yesterday? First I “heard” of it…

Didn’t appear on any of the news wheels I watch. But didn’t see most of the news yesterday. Not important. Just an aside if that.

Lots of commenters have complained (or at least noted) how silly or trivial this thing has been, but I’ll have to say that it was a nice, perhaps even fun, diversion from the regular news!

I hear Laurel when I listen on my headphones. Then I happened to be pumping gas and the “tv” on the pump started talking about this viral video and I clearly heard Yanny from the speakers. Before I left the house, I just thought the “Yanny” people were delusional or just trolls because no matter what I did, I could only hear Laurel. Given a different perspective; in my case speakers from a gas pump outside, and I clearly heard Yanny. So sometimes it’s not that someone may be delusional, it could simply be a case of perspective and environment. Good life lesson for people.
