Reminds me of a VW ad running in the paper: A dog sled has three sled dogs and one cat hitched to it. The cat is of course sitting down licking itself. The caption is, “Use only genuine VW replacement parts!”
You could dangle a mouse on a pole in front of the cats, like the rabbit in greyhound races, but the ride would be awfully jerky: cats don’t course, they pounce.
Santa’s problem is that he forgot to strap the buttered toast to the cats’ backs. If he did that, the cats would instantly levitate, because (as we all know) cats always land on their feet, and toast always lands butter side down.
I was kind of looking forward to a Danae and Santa Christmas mini-series this year, as Wiley has done some really memorable ones in the past. One that sticks out, when an elf checks out the Naughty list - “Oh, you’re THAT Danae.”
That looks like a scene from Santa Claus and the Ice Cream Bunny. (Google it). (If you want to really laugh your #$% off download it from Rifftrax.com)
One evening while we were watching TV in the living room a mouse strolled across the floor right in front of my cat, “Junior,” who was in a “Sphynx” position in the middle of the floor. Instead of going after the mouse, Junior folded his paws under his chest to make way for the mouse (Yes, the mouse was that close to Junior’s nose). It was a scene worthy of Garfield and his mouse-friends.
The cartoon was great, and the comments terrific. What a group! Nebulous’ mention of Freya was learned and funny. Reminds me of why I put up with the popup ads.
Reminds me of the funniest commercial of all time. The one featuring the cat herders. Don’t remember the product but the commercial was one of the immortals.
My little 3-D brane sees this one in technicolor and panavision and all the other superlatives and it is
@Gerald: As an Alaskan Malamute owner, I can assure you that the dogs enjoy pulling the sled. In fact, it’s stopping them that is usually the problem….
While we are telling cat stories:
Jam, pictured at left has learned to open the bi-fold closet doors. Then she hides for hours.
I put an 8 lb. dumbell in front of the door, but then I have to move it, so I gave up.
“Don’t remember the product but the commercial was one of the immortals.”
I don’t remember the name of the company either, and I worked for them for a few weeks as a temp worker. The company processed checks, back when more people wrote them.
By the way, is that front (sorry, lead) cat making a Cat’s Cradle??
(I imagine that Mr Miller has that kind of humor & would have the subtlety to include it : )
Who ever remembers any of the commercial products? – I sure don’t (and don’t want to). They are totally wasted on me.
Thanx for the link MrsCalabash – That’s so neat!!
Our 8-month old declawed kitten sent my husband to the ER with so many wounds and so much blood they couldn’t believe it when he came in. The cat had gotten trapped, we rescued him, and he was just showing his appreciation for all our efforts.
I’m also reminded of a SNL skit in which seeing-eye dogs were replaced with seeing-eye cats. The most memorable image was the blind person walking the top of a fence.

Every advertising executive will tell that your not being able to remember the product, just the commercial, makes the ad a failure.

They’re more likely to get the sled to our troops in the “sand box”– so might be the right choice this year?
