Just got done visiting with my sister and niece for about a week, they came out this way to visit. This strip reminds me I learned one thing about my niece and rain, she’s apparently terrified of it hitting the car roof.
At the edge of the front porch, just under the mail slot, was a four-foot tall Gardenia bush that had not been trimmed in some months. On this bush were a few flowers that had wilted, but it also had some open blossoms, fresh and white and fluffy. The scent was soft and sweet and in summer could make you forget almost everything else. “There, at the base- just to the right. Take a deep breath. And be strong.” Megan directed Tre-C to a spot on the ground under the Gardenia. Tre-C walked over to the bush and looked under it. What she saw made her heart sink. Even with her limited knowledge of spelling, Tre-C understood the meaning of the crudely drawn letters on the two flat stones; “Un-C”, on one, “Du-C” on the other. And she let out a cry, long and low and so intense that birds in the trees stopped singing. Dogs blocks away lowered their heads and whimpered. And cats within earshot froze in their tracks and looked in the direction of it. There was no Human translation.
Tre-C walked up onto the planter box and under the bush itself. She slowly began to dig at the earth with her left paw. “No, baby, no..” Megan offered as much comfort as she could; “that’s not gonna do anybody any good.” But Megan was not through. “Two houses down, in the far corner at the bottom of the fence is a large, silver metal trash can. It’s new, clean, and it is currently holding your answer. At least for here..”
Tre-C looked at Megan, then turned and began to walk back down the driveway towards the garage. She walked up the side of the fence and along the top of the wide cinder block toppers. Across two yards that felt like a mile and into a corner where a round metal trash can stood with its lid partially ajar. Tre-C crept up to the only angle that would allow her to see completely inside. And in the can, on her side, was a large silver tabby feeding four babies- two black, a Calico, and a tiny silver tabby; a carbon copy of the larger cat… and of her. “Mom?”
We’ve been getting very hard rain plus thunder and lightning for several hours now. My boys just are about relaxed and ready to sleep when another bolt crashes and they’re under the bed.
The weather around the globe has been horrid this year. So many places need a rain day or a rain week. I hope all the readers around the world get the weather they need, and some quiet times with their kitties.
I love this one! This has got to be one of, if not the most relaxing thing I have ever read. I can feel my muscles relaxing and my blood pressure dropping every time I read it.
{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Sending lots or healing prayers, thought, bear hugs, orb bumps, boops and lifting up Shaunnmunn today as she deals with severe toothache and needs financial help}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Hang in there sweetie and let the orbs of the great Mega Orb lift you up in spirit! ♥♥♥ We’re all thinking of you and praying for you. Hope you’re feeling a little bit better today.
Good morning and happy Hump Day, orbsters and orbabies. Paul’s last chemo is today! Yay! And we have decided to go to the cabin for the weekend. Another Yay!
I hope Jules escaped from the vase before the rain started. I like nice, quiet, rainy days when one can just loll around and not do too much of anything.
Here’s hoping everyone has a lovely rainy dozey day at home with naps, books, kitties, babies (or kids). I like the rain – ever so much better than sleet! 8)
Nothing beats a thunderstorm in the mountains of Western PA. It rolls around bouncing off the peaks forever. Unfortunately, The Giant Ginger Gentleman is terrified of thunder. Good thing my lap is almost big enough to hold him.
The only reason I don’t like the torrential downpours we have been having for the last 2 weeks here is 2 very large restless dogs that want to play but hate the rain. The cats and I don’t mind being inside to catch up on sleep or for me inside work with a cat to pin me down in one spot, but the dogs are not having it. Somehow I am to blame for all in climate weather and should be able to make the sum shine for them. It’s nice that the dogs think that I am god but I have to refer the dog to that cat for that position in life.
Put the rain on the truck! Our smoke has been unhealthy for a week now, though we’re still better off than Redding with the Carr fire where so many have had to evacuate (we still get the smoke, though, from it and several other fires in the area). Haven’t seen a blue sky for days. Trying to keep the furbaby inside to spare her lungs.
I’m actually an “outlier” here. I like rainy days (up to a point), but I have GOT to be OUTSIDE for them! I love the woods and fields, the marshes and riverfront. It is peace, and strength, and tranquility, along with wisdom, beauty, and life itself. All are just more tangible, the texture of it all more accessible, during any rain. (I HAVE had to back off on being out during lightning, though, since I’m usually with my kids. ;-))
Shaunmunn, thinking of and praying for you! If ALL else fails, and you are desperate, can you get your hands on some baby aspirin? It is made to dissolve or be chewable, and is flavored. (mine is orange, i believe) You cram it into whatever hole is killing you, let it dissolve, and cram more in when needed. It works pretty darn well.
CAUTION! There IS a possibly pretty big drawback. It kills tissue. So, if you are hoping to save the tooth, that is a problem. But, if the thing is probably going to go anyway, aspirin directly on the tissue can also ease pain, and help counter infection.
I hope you read this. You are usually all over this comment section. You not being “here” at all makes me really nervous for you, Dearheart. :"( Please take care of yourself. All of the Orb, individually and collectively, NEEDS YOU!!!!<3 <3 <3 <3
Magic on windows! Sheer poetry, Georgia. My husband and I got together with a couple we’ve known for a while but have never had any one-on-one time with. Over dinner, as we watched ominous-looking clouds approach, the other lady and I discovered a mutual love of dark skies, rain storms and especially thunder storms. Instant bond!
We had a nice gentle rain start Monday evening and it continued most of Tuesday. A good slow soaking rain we really needed, my magic lilies popped up overnight and should bloom in a couple of days. Only downside is now the grass needs to be cut, it grew overnight too.
We have been discussing a Go-Fund-Me page for Shaunmunn but Shaun doesn’t know how to set one up. It occurred to me that there may be another solution. If Shaun has a PayPal account we can send money directly to her account if she gives us the email address. If she doesn’t have one, they are easy to set up.

Oh thank Cat it’s raining so we don’t have to do anything but nap or listen to the Woman reading a great book by Georgia Dunn.

Back has been flaring up the last couple of days. I did too much lifting while helping to paint the house Sunday.
Fortunately i had half the day off yesterday, only one client this morning, and tomorrow i’m going to the Portland VA for the CT and the X-Ray.
No lifting. Minimal bending.

Raindrops keep falling on my head
I’ll stay in my jammies and just go back to bed
I have lots to do,
But raindrops keep falling on my head, they keep falling
So I just gathered the kiddies and a book
And I started reading loving all the time it took,
The cats are by my side
Those cats will be napping with the kids, they’ll be napping
And there’s one thing I know,
The chores won’t cause us sorrow,
Time we’ll borrow,Everything we have to do we’ll do tomorrow.
Raindrops keep falling on my head,
Well that’s just a metaphor, the rain’s outside instead,
We’ll enjoy the day
And stay inside reading, we’ll be playing and reading
Because you see,
Today’s happy and free!

“You and me and rain on the roof
Caught up in a summer shower
Drying while it soaks the flowers
Maybe we’ll be caught for hours, waiting out the sun
You and me underneath the roof of tin
Pretty comfy feeling how the rain ain’t leakin’ in — We
Can sit and dry just as long as it can pour
And the way it make you move makes me hope it rains some more”
