Hypothesis: Roche discovered one of his fellow “Rogues” was doing something illegal. My guess is embezzling from the Rogues’ Gallery itself. Roche was going to make a dramatic statement by confronting the perp at that night’s gathering’s while in character as Tracy PLUS have the real Dick Tracy there to make an arrest. He had just received the final, implicating piece of information via telephone call when the crooked cosplayer shot him and purloined the paper containing the transcribed evidence. Is Doubleup/Dr. Hall a conniving club treasurer? Or did Dr. Marx misuse his presidential power to pilfer the piggybank? Tune in tomorrow… same Dick time, same Tracy channel!
This is as bad as Slylock Fox. Detective Tracy took the pencil and shaded the top page of the note pad, revealing an impression of what was written on the missing page. Reeky Rat is guilty again!
I was so exited yesterday to see Tracy and Sam doing the trajectory line-up routine, I didn’t stop to ask: Line up what? In order to determine a line of trajectory, don’t you need two points of reference? Like if a bullet comes through both a window and a screen, or if there had been a hole in the chair as well as the victim. From what we have been told and seen, how did they determine that the shooter stood in the doorway? (I’m still thrilled to see Tracy and Sam investigating a crime scene like this, but I think the writers rushed things quite a bit, probably because all this has to be wrapped up in two weeks.)
How convenient for the reader…all of the suspects except Flattop were lined up (in order of height!) in last Sunday’s strip. Thanks for the clue, Team Tracy! We’ve also seen Flattop stand next to Tracy (about the same height) and Doubleup (taller than Tracy, than Tracy). Therefore, it appears that Doubleup and perhaps the shorter-than-everyone Blackjack are eliminated as suspects.
What country did this telephone come from, with the fingerstop at about 10 o’clock? (And how old is it? It has the same general lines as a W.E. 302, made 1937–1955.)
Wouldn’t the killer just have taken the whole pad, instead of leaving the pad with one sheet clearly torn off, making it practically a neon sign reading: CLUE
Pencil on the desk, next to the phone. Missing top-sheet of paper from the notepad. Tracy sees a clue. I guess Roche had been on the phone and jotting a quick note (with his left hand? —that’s how the stuff on the desk seems to be arranged) when he was drilled through the heart (which is pretty good shooting, even at close range, assuming that it was so targeted). Just 3 installments left….

Good morning™, investigators!
He had no pen or pencil in hand, but there is a pad of paper with one sheet torn off.

Good morning™, flummoxed sidekicks !
I hope my eye is as sharp as Dick’s when the camera finely pivots around for our view.

Will Tracy take a pencil and do a rubbing of the graphite on the paper to reveal what was previously written on it ?
Night-Gaunt49[Bozo is Boffo] about 6 years ago
The pen or pencil probably is on the floor. And the pad may have the impression of what was written on it.

Granted, only 23:20 in Denver (11:20 PM), but there are more comments on Dick Tracy than Luann?!?

Our firs clue! And only three days left of this!

You determined the arc of the shot, but the point of the gun depends on how tall the killer was and how close.

So far so good and interesting. I still wonder if it hasn’t been staged a certain way for the police.

Nice looking Dick Tracy in panel three. I really like it. Matter a fact, I always like Dick and Sam together… deducing crime …and working together.!!
