Earl (like Andy Capp with Flo) sure never has a serious conversation with Opal.

I know my husband isn’t listening when I tell him stuff. But that gives me ammunition to throw at him if I buy something and he wonders why. I can say, “I TOLD you I was going to buy a new couch!” What can he say? HA!

Too bad King Midas’ barber didn’t have Earl as a confidant.

Maybe Opal should use a bullhorn to talk to Earl.

It’s not that we don’t hear it. It more that we just don’t care.

Just keep talking to the dog, Opal. At least you will occasionally get a tail wag.

I just turn my hearing aide off. (Also a useful tactic during campaign ad seasons.) I’ve often wondered if I was the original “drop out” (as in “Turn on. Tune in. Drop out” – Timothey Leary, 1966). Nah, I’m too old to be that relevant. (And I finished college and grad school.)

This reminds me of my parents. Mom always talked through every movie my father watched but he got around that by turning off his hearing aid and he watched some movies enough that he could recite the lines had he been asked. I doubt he ever missed a running of John Wayne’s Cavalry Trilogy.
