This mess is making no sense at all. It seems everything was a trap to get Pauly caught by Tracy. Did Polor just turn on the 2 way radio and Shazam! Dick’s at the door or did he activate it earlier? Why would he want Tracy to know where he was at?After all, he is dealing drugs.
This whole story has more holes in it than a swiss cheese tuna melt!
Let’s consider the dramatic irony for a moment. WE know that PV is behind the drugs-to-kids racket, and Tracy probably does since Devil presumably spilled the beans. But PV might still thinks there is nothing linking him to the drug racket so calling on Tracy for help might seem (to PV) to be a much less riskier prospect than having Tracy think he is behind Honeymoon’s abduction.
Seems Vortex is crafty, while Pauly has gone blood simple. Crystal was seen as leverage to obtain Bribery’s connections and influence, as Bribery knows all about poaching on Apparatus turf. Honeymoon? All she gets you is Dick Tracy at the door. Vortex turns on the wrist wizard and voila: the problem that is a rogue Pauly may be dispatched. Vortex is only at risk from the police if he is dumb enough to keep product on the premises, which strikes me as an unlikely proposition. Devil’s tale may implicate PV, or not. Pauly betrayed Devil and wants revenge on Tracy (for what, exactly?), but at a time and locale of his choosing. I don’t think he wanted it to go down this way.
Regarding the wrist radio… I saw Honeymoon using it to report Pauly and the “strange” ice cream truck before getting gassed by Devilia… So, there may have been enough of a signal to alert Tracy before going in the “deep freeze”…
I can also see PV retrieving the wrist radio and allowing it to warm up before broadcasting a longer tracking signal that reaches Tracy…
And since Tracy knows that Honeymoon and Crystal were kidnapped…
As for PV… He’s going to beat the kidnapping rap by “helping” Tracy and making a plea deal…
As for the drugs… I haven’t seen them since being referenced since earlier in the story… Are they onsite ? Drug sniffing dogs and good old investigation will reveal the truth…
how quickly you forget that polar already said the wrist wizards dont work in a deep freeze (or was that pauly? either way… tomato tomAHto) and we all know polar likes to chill (pun intended) so why would THIS wrist wizard actually work?
Nope, like i said in my previous comment.. thats not tracy at all
I have to take some time for a learning curve each time I buy a new cell phone but it seems that everyone who gets ahold of a wrist wizard instinctively knows how to operate it. Don’t they have passwords or biometric fingerprints or do they just work for everybody?
I think the shadowy figure in the last panel is there anti-Dick Tracy, but some commentators say Pauly was the anti-Tracy. The confusion just shows some sloppy writing on Mike’s part in this story, too many characters running around without being thought out.
A broken-off broomstick can be a very effective self-defense baton, or, in Pauly’s case, an offensive weapon as well. Indeed, I keep a sawed-off broom-handle [not a reference to a certain voguish-model shotgun] in the closet….
Assuming for the sake of argument that it really is Tracy we see in panel 3, this will not go down as Pauly had hoped; at a minimum, Tracy has Sam along with him, maybe more uniforms, or Lizz, as well, depending on exactly what kind of message it was that tipped him to the location.
I would presume the girls are still unconscious, and/or perhaps bound and gagged, in some other (but nearby) room. Maybe Honeymoon will awaken/get loose in time to help in the forthcoming battle, though it is not necessary for her to have a part in it….

Activated earlier so Pauly could kill Tracy….what’s so confusing? If Tracy’s dead, how does he mess up the drug deal?

Panels like this remind me of why this is an award-winner.

How did he get the wrist radio, I thought it was in the freezer to prevent it from working? He never went to the truck and opened the freezer.

Wasn’t there an “anti Tracy” (as we called it) early on? Could that be whose silhouette we’re seeing?

Meanwhile, how are the girls doing? Where are they stashed? Are they still unconscious?

Maybe that’s the cardboard stand-up from the movie… did they have a Dick Tracy movie in Tracyville?
