I think it was Pete Carroll who talked about how your favourite teacher was the one who kept you guessing, who surprised you, who kept you coming back to see what they would do next.

I suspect that’s true of students too.

Alternate post: “Just when they think they have the answers, I change the questions.” – Rowdy Roddy Piper.

I’d say she’s cutting off her nose to spite her face… but that little dash of a nose makes it look as if she’s already done so.

I like that the teacher seems to have an office. How civilized.

While I can understand Nancy’s wanting to bristle at anything seeming to feel like compliance…. she also needs to begin to recognizing that “winning” the non-compliance award while at the same time hurting yourself is NOT a true win.

I tried to tell my daughter one of the things that helps me in tests (in my opinion, I “test” better than I actually “know”) is that teachers have a bias they can’t entirely get past—they are biased towards educating. Generally speaking, they won’t use totally underhanded methods to make you miss a question.

I’m not sure I ever managed to convey my point, though. It is kind of nebulous, but there must be some way to explain how I can do so well in standard tests and such and still not necessarily know all that much.
