Why have I never noticed until now that our lovely Sophie has different colored eyes?

“So you just ‘hung out a shingle’, so to speak, and the neighborhood came to you with it’s mysteries?” “In a way, Max, that’s exactly what happened. I’m sure you know that ‘word of mouth’ is the best form of advertising. Well, there were a lot of words coming out of a lot of mouths back then.” Tre-C took that moment to add; “And that’s easy to understand. Animal are not supposed to be… help me out, here, ‘self aware’ is it?” “That’s it, Kitten- you got it.” “Well, I know I am. And obviously you are as well. So is Mr. Max here, and even our old friend Nibbles. I have no idea why. As a cat, I have limited knowledge of this stuff. But I know the bulk of our brothers and sisters don’t even have that.” “Yes, Kitten, yes. And even at that, I will tell you that your awareness is very near what mine was at your age.”

And when the woman does that, you’ll be right there, Sophie, demanding tribute for the sacrifice of your art, right?

I hope Sophie’s Woman takes pictures of Sophie’s art in order to preserve it for posterity.

Sopie needs to create an artwork that shreds itself when the frig door is closed too hard.

Let’s see – we’ve got toilet paper, tin foil, a sponge, magnetic letters, a gray glob of something and … what’s that green stuff?

There is beauty in everything and all of us, right Sophie? Don’t despise anything no matter how humble it appears.

The actual installation might be ephemeral but its effect on the soul is imperishable.

We are all very philosophical lately. There have been better observations on art and life in this comment section than can be found in many a tome of weighty words in a university library. Bravo everyone! Love coming here and chatting with you all.

Happy Caturday, orbsters and orbabies! It’s nice to see Sophie and Thomas conversing. I greatly admire people who can create as she does. I need patterns to follow to do my knitting, needlepoint and cross stitch. I couldn’t design to save Paul’s life.

Good morning all! A while ago (sorry!) I left a request here on behalf of a kitty I’d met at a rest stop. Thank you to ALL for the positives!! Update – rescue organization got back to me. They believe kitty is a feral they’ve already worked with. Seems there was a litter raised there a few years ago. One by one, they’ve caught, sterilized, and rehabbed who they could. Sounds like she’s the last. Their experience was that she is FERAL. They spayed and released her to a farm a few miles off. Later, this cat matching her description shows back up at the rest stop, and they have to keep telling well intentioned individuals the story.

Only thing that stuck to me – when I was working with her, she was COMING IN MY LAP for food! When the organization had her, she had JUST been spayed. I’m concerned that they won’t take her, even if brought to them calm and in a crate (I checked, because I’d spend a few months with her if I could squeeze the time and it’d help) because she is “officially feral”. Maybe, if they get more reports like mine, they’ll reconsider giving her a second chance, post hormones. I am of course very grateful for what they do, though. It’s all volunteer, and they need to keep themselves safe. And I wasn’t there and do not have training in this. So….. at least I know she’s very probably happy in her home, and not gonna be raising any kittens, or crossing roads while insane and in heat.

    :-)

    On the more “positive” side…..

I was trick or treating with daughter and friends at night on 31st. She and I were royalty! She was Fairy Princess, and I was the Night Fairy Queen. All in black lace and brocade, with black elaborate wings and crown, etc. This way, I could be just fangs shy of vampire, and she and I would BOTH be happy with my costume. ;-)

Anyway, kids found a kitty under a porch. It’s a GOOD neighborhood, so I’d assumed the kitty was adult and at home – until I saw the kitty myself. This poor little bedraggled dark grey, fluffy kitten sized purr machine!! (No litter mates about, or signs that I could tell. I checked!) Left my kiddo with the friends, and was able to bundle the tiny mite in my skirt and then, with the help of a box from some kind neighbors, and directions from others (I’d lost the car! Panic!!) I got the little sweety to our no-kill shelter right away! I felt like the Hallowe’en Kitty Guardian Angel! LOL!!!

Even my friends were saying “It’ll be ok. Someone here will help. C’mon!” I was wondering if these people KNEW me!

Tommy here reminds me of the Sesame Street lessons I grew up with. I can hear him saying “This art brought to you by the Letter M”

I love this strip so much, Georgia’s art is beautiful. I have the type of imagination that can believe and get lost in the fantasy (as a child, I pretty much ignored my dolls and used their clothes to dress my stuffed animals—too much TV cartoon exposure maybe). I also enjoy the comments here, much nicer than the ones on internet news stories. The offers of help and support are heartwarming. Skipper1992, thank you for your offer of insurance help and I may take you up on it at some point, however, I am now informed via mail from insurance.gov that eligibility laws have changed in my state and that if my income is at a certain level, I will be forced to either take Medicaid or pay “significantly higher” premiums. Time to book an appointment with the “navigator” who signed me up in the first place. And to get some in-home healthcare from my furbabies. Wishing ALL a happy weekend, especially our military and Veterans, and also wishing freedom from insurance troubles for all of us! ; )

For an excellent (parody) of this theme, try to find a copy of “Why Cats Paint” by Burton Silver

Option 3: her home’s Man, half blinded with a migraine, stumbles and lands against the refrigerator door. Sincerely, thank Cat for Imitrex, but I’m really loopy for about an hour after it kicks in.

Also, you know all those stories about cats who sense their human is not feeling well and just quietly cuddle with them? Maverick and Ember have never heard those stories.

“The Agony and the Ecstacy” was shown on TCM last week. Since Sophie seems to have a little bit of an ego (at least with respect to poor Tommy!), how about having Baba Mouse give Sophie a “commission” to paint (or otherwise create) something inspirational in her barn?
