Bought a recipe book for my wife, she had to point out that it would have shipped for free if I had used her Amazon account instead of buying it directly from The Stinking Rose.
Years ago, I realized my husband couldn’t or wouldn’t buy me anything from a list (which I hated making anyway) — I could specify size, color, even a specific model number but the gift I received (of course no return slips) would not fit, be a different color, or would be the wrong model (and incompatible), so our pets started giving everyone gifts and I quit making a list. I got attachments for my mixer from my cat and he got attachments for his camera from his dog — and the kids got fun things from both.
I maintain a Gift Closet. Whenever I see something I want at a bargain price, Like a a rare old 1st edition on EBay, I buy it and store it in the closet. My wife can do all her Christmas shopping at home, without the internet.
The older I get, the more I prefer not to get gifts. I have too many things and I want to downsize. I’ve found I have to be careful in my gift-giving, not only because I don’t usually know what they want, but because it makes them feel obliged to give gifts to me.

No, they might say they do but they usually don’t feel so guilty.

I know that I’m being picky, but the correct Grammar is “fewer”, not less. But perhaps “less” is now considered correct since it is in common usage.
