    The real reason sailors wore eye patches was to keep one eye accustomed to the dark, and when they went below, they’d switch eyes.

    A line on the Fraiser show. Niles is recounting a “romantic” weekend with his wife where he was role-playing a pirate and asked, “Can you still call it an eye-patch if you wear it over your …” That’s about as risque as that program got. The writers had good sense to leave a lot of things to the viewer’s imagination.
