For me the same thing happens from working on the cars. I don’t intend to get that deeply involved but it happens. It isn’t because I am inexperienced, it is because I don’t seem to learn from experience. I can start out all prissy, wiping away a smudge on my fingertips, and an hour later I have my arms wrapped around the transmission and dirty oil in my (remaining) hair, inventing new words by chaining four letter words together.
I have recently started using an apron while cooking again. Not only do they protect your clothing from splatters and stains, they are also handy for wiping your hands on if you get anything on them.

Even nudists wear aprons. Protects you.

Yup. To cover the stains created by lack of apron.

Now, back to today’s comic….. Why does Arlo have his hand inside the steaming pot in panel 1?
The Pro from Dover about 6 years ago
This is different. Jimmy we usually doesn’t portray Arlo as stupid. At least not that I can recall.

It’s the coverup. It’s always the coverup. Gets them every time.

I’m shocked with all of the cooking that Arlo does, he did not know this.

Yes and no.
He’s using it to cover up the food he’s wearing.
But he figured out they’re good for protecting clothing. Or now believes it in a more fundamental way than before.
