I wonder what it’s like to live in a country with no borders. Any Australians want to weigh in on the topic?

I’ve always said that if the next road sign you see is “Bienvenue au Quebec!” you are seriously lost!

That cab must get really good gas mileage. According to the map software on my PC, driving from New York City to Philadelphia to the nearest U.S./Canada border crossing is about 450 miles.

Since the lights are on, its probably not the Canadian border. Returning home to Canada with my son at the wheel, I was awoken by a question from him. My bleary eyes saw what looked like border control, but virtually all the lights were out. I assumed it was the U.S. border, and advised him to drive on as the two control points are nearby at this crossing. Suddenly all the lights came on and several Canadian border agents appeared with a hand on their hip. I woke up quickly.

Is this a repeat strip? If it’s a new strip, why doesn’t either of them have a smart phone and Google Maps?

I had a Russian born driver taking me from Evanston, Illinois to Chicago. To my hotel. I called it Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride”. He barley could find Chicago then couldn’t find the hotel. I’d only been there once and ended up having to tell him how to get to the front of the hotel. He suggested at one point that I climb over the concrete traffic barrier and he’d toss me my suitcase.

I think they are approaching Washington, D.C. as it is obviously a different country than the one the rest of us live in.
