I don’t actually do anything on the second one, but it’s a good excuse not to take down the tree for a while!

We celebrate two Christmas days, 25 and 26 december. Which makes it easier to celebrate one day with your family and the next with the inlaws. Or with grandparents. So Merry Christmas today.

Twelve Days of Christmas, but retailers (online and off) want to stretch it back through Advent, Thanksgiving and Halloween (if not earlier). No wonder people are burned out after only the first day of Christmas.

There are plenty of cultural references to the 12 days of Christmas. The famous song, obviously. But there’s also Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” which refers to the twelfth day of Christmas, known as Epiphany, January 6.

It is indeed, STILL the season of Christmas. It only began on the 25th, you still have more days of Christmas.

Too bad the rest of the culture confuses the “buying season” with the actual season. Most of December is to PREPARE…Be “counter-culture” keep the season!
