Never try to re-capture your youth. It is tough and elusive and you only get to survive it relatively unscathed while you are young enough to heal quickly. Better you should help the new youths to build their memories and experiences which in turn they should never try to recapture. It is the cycle of living(not âlifeâ, which is a whole different conversation).
As a Boy Scout in the late â50âs, used to love going with our troop to the lower Sierras to camp out in the snow ! Had a favorite place not to far from our camp that rented sleighs and toboggans. What fun was had on those 4 place and 6 place toboggans, missing and dodging rocks ân trees while doing so !
Our hill was 1/2 mile long â about a 30-degree slope â and was used as a bunny ski slope and toboggan run â had to be in control tho â at the bottom of the hill was a deep creek that was not frozen over. The trek back up definitely burned the calories. Good thing we were young and full of energyâŠ

From Long Long Texas Road by Roy Drusky:
When youâre just a child there ainât no time but now
Must have left that long old road seven hundred years ago
And Iâd find it once again if I knew how
âŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ..
If I knew then what I know now that would have messed it up somehow
When the day stretched out before me like a long long Texas road

I used to connect with my inner child, but I interrupted the connection because my inner child was throwing tantrums.

Well, that was a pretty short connection. One expected nothing less from the Fink.

I went back to the town and street I grew up on and found that the big hill where we used to sled was barely a hill at all.Must be erosion.

If youâre not certain that youâre old, get a second opinion by falling down in front of other people.
If they laugh, youâre not old. If they run over to helpâŠ
