First appearance of Pig-Pen. Fascinating.

And the legend is born.

And don’t forget, he may well be wearing the dust from ancient civilizations. In other words, he’s a historic landmark!

Aaah! Pig-Pen! Or as Joan Baez called him in her song “Diamonds and Rust”: “The unwashed phenomenon”

Charlie Brown: Pig-Pen, you’re the only person I know, who can raise a cloud of dust in a snowstorm.

In later years he was just called “Mr. Pen”!

According to Wikipedia, Pig-Pen first appeared on July 13, 1954.

And we never did figure out what his real name was, I guess same can be said for “Rerun.”

Peanuts characters have to name themselves actually because all their parents can say is “Wa wa.”

And so it begins…

Happy birthday, Pig-Pen.

Pig Pen’s character never really took off. A few cameo appearances, but not much.

Pig Pen it’s me at his age: my poor mom changed my clothes 3 times a day.

One of the more interesting, yet underused, characters.

What IS his real name?

A sister-in-law had a boyfriend who had that nickname from his co-workers. She FINALLY dumped him.

Holy Mud Mother, I’ve never seen Pig Pen’s first strip. Cool Mo Dee!!!!

It’ll be a few years before the next major character is added.

Pig pen was one of my favorite characters in Peanuts.

Pig-Pen is my favourite. And this strip always breaks my heart every time i see it.
