    I am pretty sure that “aegilops” is not an English word. It’s not on dictionary.com nor is it in my Websters. I suspect from the sound of it that it is either Greek or Latin.

    actually it’s Latin. A genus of plants, called also hardgrass. An ulcer or fistula in the inner corner of the eye
