I had a gray cat that was so stealthy when we had a group of role players over, she stole a Dorito out of the bag in front of us. The kicker is that we were sitting in a circle on the floor with the bag in the middle of us. We didn’t notice her until she was eating and made loud crunching noises.
I didn’t take it as begging. I’ve caught my cat sneaking up on my bowl of cereal before. Luddie is just better at stalking and/or Arlo too distracted to catch him.
This reminds me of my sweet old boy Tigger who would beg at every meal. Oh how I miss my sweetheart he passed away last August but not without teaching our two younger cats how to beg. Though they don’t do it at every meal like he did.
I give anything to have my 17 year old cat back always trying to steal potato chips. He loved sour cream and onion chips. He died last year after three years of cancer therapy. It was VERY expensive but worth every penny to have my old Jax on my lap begging for chips.
I’ve got one that does this too. He loves bacon, cheese, and chicken. When I eat it he will sit within inches of my face and dish. I allow him to do so, and he knows I’ll share with him. Also, when I put my chicken in the microwave dish to heat it up, he likes to “sneak up” on the bowl and pilfer a big bite of chicken that he pulls out of the dish. I allow him to do that too. He’s my baby. :)
My current cat doesn’t care for people food (except tuna water), but always comes over to check out what I’m eating. He sniffs at my plate and then walks away. His inspections make me laugh.
Our Boo-Boo who survived 23 great years used to sit at an empty chair at the dining room table with her white tipped paws draped over the arm of the chair and give us the moon eyes till we relented. How I miss that little cat!
I wouldn’t give my cat chocolate ice cream for the same reason I wouldn’t give it to my dog. However, My tom cat , Sammy, (known as “Son of…” to the rodent world) loves to clean up the strawberry ice cream bowl when I am through.
I had a sweet little Siamese who loved cream doughnuts. When I ate one, she would surreptitiously weasel her way onto my lap and then pop her head up between my mouth and the doughnut to steal a bite.

If that’s chocolate ice cream you better shove him away, it’s bad for kitties!

Time to bring out the catnip toy.

I like Night-Gaunt49’s idea. Giving Luddy some catnip would be stimulating for both Luddy and Arlo.

Our little gray cat has learned exactly how close she can get so that we know she wants a bite, but she is not being a pest
She’s about 17 years old, she’s had many years to perfect the art of begging

I think Arlo is sick. He’s had that same look for two days or two strips.
