Not free stuff. We want to exchange reasonable taxes instead of paying sky-high insurance premiums. We want to get educations, not mortgage our futures away. We want a chance at a decent life. And no, we won’t become Venezuela, which is ironic to hear from a political party that’s attempting to make us vassals of Soviet Russia.

Might be a tad too simplified with “free stuff”.

I absolutely hate it when I have to pay to have streets paved that I never drive on.

And I especially hate having to pay for them schools what other people’s kids go to.

And we should auction off all those money wasting National Parks to Disney and other patriotic multi-national corporations.

And why do we even have any public transportation, anyway? Why can’t people hire their own limo drivers every day?

The excuses being made for socialism here are what will eventually end America as a free country.

@pshcearer: What could bring down America as a free country?

The unlimited accumulation of wealth (and therefore political power) by a relative handful of extremely wealthy individuals. Corruption of the political process. Propaganda. Giving control of America to incompetents beholden to a country that resents our prosperity and success, a country that wants to see America degraded, debased, and impotent.

You are right. “We won’t become Venezuela.” 280 Million guns in the hands of 80 million Americans says you are right. And if you idiots think that means we would turn on our neighbors you are even dumber than one of your Socialist Lib over lords Hank (Guam is sinking) Johnson.

I like to do my own thinking, not bow and grovel before THE STATE".A State that grants itself and its enforcer units absolution for murder. That funnels your taxes back to the folks that line the campaign treasure boxes.A state with a propaganda operation CNN (The Commie Nazi Network.) They all lie to you.(See NETWORK Howard Beale) But CNN goes over the top when it comes to deceiving the flock. Like the smear job it did on the children from the school in KY. Like labeling the Gov. (Mr. Infanticide) of VA. with a GREAT BIG® when he is a Lib Dem.With the latest evidence coming out regarding Ms. Race card herself Lizzy (Borden (To the truth) Warren lets see how many puff pieces and soft ball questions come her way from CNN and THE VIEW. Better order some more Chap Stick, I can see a load of kissing up on the way. Yesterday during the Patriots “We Won” parade there was mention of the Patriots owner having a yacht. Well there is a Socialist just to the west of Mass (The Peoples Republic of NY) where the DEER LEADER put a provision in the state budget a few years back that lets anyone that is a Yacht (or personal aircraft) buyer pay taxes only on the first $250,000 no matter the cost of the item. I am sure that, that really lessens the burden on the middle class. So I am sure he has your best interests at heart. Hey come over here I have a bridge I want to sell you. After you buy the bridge you can go over it to the zoo with the rainbow unicorns.

Public college is not “socialism.” Government-owned factories and farms would be socialism. And it’s not “free stuff” – we actually ARE taxpayers, you know. We just think public money should be used to benefit the public.

Yeah, I don’t know where republicans get this idea that democrats and liberals want stuff for free. It’s mind-boggling and frankly, insulting. Especially considering how for the past 40 some odd years, republican presidents have consistently lowered taxes and raised government spending, it’s like THEY are expecting free things.

TANSTAAFL – Robert A. Heinlein. You can’t have it both ways, Mr. Stantis. The Democrats are usually portrayed by the GOP as the “tax and spend” party. This as as opposed to the new GOP strategy of “cut taxes on the wealthy and spend more.” So any claim to fiscal responsibility once held by the GOP has been forfeited in spades.

    “I want free stuff!”

Like thinking that Mexico is going to pay for your wall.

Here’s a better quote on the subject:

    Polonius:

“Neither a borrower nor a lender be,

For loan oft loses both itself and friend,

And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry."

    Hamlet Act 1, scene 3, 75–77

Trump’s tax plan shot the national debt up to give the rich more money. The national debt is money we owe to China and others. Trump’s tax plan, was, to put it mildly, a bad idea.

Progressives don’t want free stuff. We want to be able to decide how to spend the money we pay in taxes.

It’s not as simplistic as wanting free stuff. There are things to the public benefit that are more cost effective to pay collectively. Snow clearing, public education, police protection…though I haven’t seen the Conservatives follow through with the ‘private does it better’ by having Haliburton run the military and OCP (Robocop) the police. Said facetiously. And affordable medical care can also be seen in the public benefit. Speaking also as a Canadian, one who a month following googled what I would have to have paid in America if last November’s car accident happened there.

You know, I don’t personally know one of these straw-ostriches you are portraying, however, I know far too many right-wing populists. I say this as a conservative person, who is just interested in the truth. You’d do better to portray the truth.
