Just change dry food on occasion, so it’s not like like eating corn flakes day after day, week after week, month after…… Even dogs like a little variety.
Love Farley’s expressions in panels 2 and 4. Some dogs are picky eaters. I had two chihuahuas like that. My boxer would occasionally reject dog food I buy when her usual was out.
You’ve got to feel sorry for the dogs, though…..they have to eat stuff they hate because many owners can’t really afford to let that huge bag of newly-purchased dog food go to waste..let alone have to buy a replacement bag of dog food their pets may like. Everyone should send the stuff back to the dogfood makers…collect.
One time we were given Blue Seal Cat Crunchies for our cats. We usually "free fed’ them dry & supplemented with a can a day. They seemed to go through it fast, but we didn’t buy it again (hard to get AND expensive). When we moved, tho, we ended up finding Blue Seal Cat Crunchies hidden just about everywhere! They REALLY didn’t like it!
Do they have one that smell like used leather barn work glove? Dogs on the farm used to love to eat those. They couldn’t keep them down, but they loved to eat ’em.
Apropos of making a pet’s meals as attractive as ours: There’s a commercial on now which shows the contents of a can of cat food neatly positioned on a plate with savoury flecks of something-or-other glinting deliciously from the sides. It looks like a gourmet treat. I had a pampered cat once and I made the mistake of heating up her dinner. Bad idea. It doesn’t matter how good a can of pet food looks, the smell is still…emetic.
None of my dogs eat any dog food that says “chicken flavored” on the bag. Steak, bacon, and salmon are all good, but not chicken. Same with canned food. However, they will eat the chicken I cook for them. It was the same with my 2 previous dogs. I’m not sure what dog food companies are using to create chicken flavor, but my pups have never liked it.
shapes and colors and the cool packaging is all for the human. I love Farley’s face in the last panel.
by the way, by-products…not ground up and put into dog food as much anymore, now they sell it a la cart in pet stores for high prices. $3 for a freeze dried duck head. #1.50 for chicken feet and pig’s ears.
MANY years ago where I was at University, there was a chain of 4 or5 Mexican restaurants in the town. These restaurants were very popular with everyone; always crowded. I woke up one morning and looked at the local news paper and on the front page there was an announcement that the garbage cans in the back of the restaurants were full of empty cans of dog food. It was discovered that they were using canned dog food (specifically; canned horse meat) instead of beef in their highly spiced meat dishes.

Are they trying a new dog food brand on Farley? Last year he was eating Barfo Bits.

Dogs eat kibble crap because it’s either that or starve. Sorry but they are wolves in people clothing. Wolves don’t eat kibble.

I thought that dog owners have always been schooled to introduce a new dog food, a little at a time, to avoid stomach upsets?
