That child’s observation might be more accurate than Frazz’s. Most of us guys don’t handle this particular day satisfactorily, and he no more than the rest of us.
For goodness sakes!!! It’s candy. That is a treat, a special food in one of the “Fun Things in Life” category. Besides, if she has a piece of 70%+ dark chocolate, she can call it an antioxidant supplement.
LOL! My hubby just got in from a long walk during which he had to move onto the road side when on northern facing sidewalks due to black ice. (I can laugh because he assured me that he saw the ice and never fell.)
For my husband and I Valentine’s Day is a minor holiday which we often forget since we happily celebrate a different and more important day in February when we first said, “I love you.”
Some people are just fine with running on a treadmill or cycling on a machine indoors. I would not be one of them. I was always willing to do it in the pursuit of a higher goal, but I couldn’t bring myself to enjoy it. It did beat injuring yourself, to be sure, though on the really long days — oh, the heartache of the bad-weather weekend — it was harder and harder to be sure.
Cycling indoors wasn’t so much a weather issue for me as a geographical one. Metro Detroit is just not an efficient or particularly safe place to train on a bike. Having limited hours and lives to discard, I spent a lot of time on the trainer. Which, it must be said, is a very efficient (and I suppose safe) way to train. But for a guy like me, for whom racing was an excuse to train and training was really just an excuse to explore, it didn’t work so well. Though I have to say I’m grateful on one level. I’m glad it at least happened when certain parts of the television world decided to put out good material for once and make it available on DVD. Thus I was able to watch all of The Sopranos and The Wire, that exquisite first season of True Detective, Deadwood and some other very good series. Indeed, I wonder if I quit too soon, not having gotten to all the seasons of Deadwood nor any seasons of Justified or Fargo.
Funny how I don’t feel as cheated swimming back and forth in a standardized pool, or even repeatedly in the same lake. I think there’s so much more there to explore within (a nice way of saying there’s a whole lot of technique I’m still trying to figure out) that it holds me quite thoroughly until I can go off and find less familiar water.
Anyway, happy Valentine’s Day. And, from what I can tell looking at the weather map, for most of the country, have a nice treadmill run.

Frazz could dangle a box of chocolates in front of the treadmill.

Fair. Outdoor runs are better than treadmill runs.

She’s no fair weather runner.

Nothing comes close to outdoors!

IS the relationship between Frazz and Ms. Plainwell strictly platonic or are they closer? Do they ever go out on dates, movies etc.?

Because running, not love, is by far the most important aspect of anyone’s life (in this strip).

“Has to run”. Now there’s an interesting concept.

Were we supposed to think a teacher was talking about reluctant sex with her boyfriend to an elementary student?

Sad. Perhaps Frazz can find a more pleasurable way to raise her metabolic rate?

I certainly agree with her.
