Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
yeah you need a cassette of George Strait, because âcountryâ wonât play him any more. You know your too POP when The King of Country gets no play. Shame.
I remember when you could get an adapter so your am only car radio would pick up fm stations. Also when a luxury option was an inbetween-the-front-seats record player (to be used when parked or when you drove on really smooth roads). And I remember really smooth roads.
When my dad died we inherited his Grand Caravan. A radio, plus a tape player and a CD player. My ânewâ car only has a CD player. I am NOT rebuilding my entire music collection every time somebody has a new idea.
The problem was that 8 track tape cartridges use foam pressure pads to hold the tape tightly against the heads, but the foam in the pads breaks down and flattens with age (donât we all) which makes the tape get so loose that it eventually gets tangled up in the machine, ruining the cassette.
I had a car for a short time that had an inbuilt cassette player. It was great when the weather was decent but I didnât trust my tapes in the car in hot or cold weather.
I donât have a cassette player in my car, but as a devotee of the cassette I do write a series called The Cassette Chronicles for a website and I have a lot of fun/get aggravated at the music I missed out on back in the day.
My âclassic toyâ in the back of the garage has one. Originally it didnât have even a radio (somewhere I have the original window sticker). I heard a horrible rumor!! New cars only have a place to plug your cell phone for âinfotainmentâ, not even a cd player!

Our ânewestâ car has one, and the console between the seats is stuffed with cassettes. The older one just has the AM/FM radio.

And a plugger is any of the few people in the country who still call those cities âFriscoâ and âSan Antone.â
