Often wondered about that “transparancy” saying. Things get so transparent you can’t see them, be it promises, level playing fields or equality.

If everyone on Earth only told the truth… there would be peace on Earth. And would have population between 0 & 2.

Good Morning Lonewolf, Gweedo, Montana Lady, Skye 34, and Everybody Else

The press only reports what will sell papers or draw ratings. They really don’t care what is going on as long as they can make it sensational.

At least 90% of the press is left or far left. Anyone who things the NY Times is right wing is crazy. The same thing goes for college professors.

pamlicorat has the right idea, though…

When the final tally is in and we find out how many people died as a direct or indirect result of Wikileaks, I hope the supporters of it will see Assange as the self aggrandizing weasel that he is. Actions have consequences, even when those actions are given the spurious cloak of “transparency” and “open government”.

Then again, we already know there were lives likely lost when Valerie Plame was outted and the guys who did that never paid, Sand. Guess the right has it’s usual short memory.

gbruse: the papers are now almost all owned by rich conservatives or syndicated under the same. Only the Internet keeps up a leftist slant. Your 90% lie ranges back to when the wrongists were originally crying about not being represented. Now the 90% mostly goes the other way. Visual media now tends to 65-35 for the wrongists. In fact money does buy the traditional mass media and run it.

Personally, I check out both and sort through the drivel from each. It’s hard. Requires thought instead of the usual knee-jerk from both sides.

As a further point. Christian media has a long conservative slant in its news because Pat Robertson took the 100 million Dollars he got for selling his superstation to a very non-family Family broadcaster and had his son buy up as many Christian radio stations as he could and establish the Christian news network which constantly slants the news Patty’s way. Just a most obvious example of Wiki brain washing leaks for the rich.

Freeholder1, are you talking about Richard Armitage, or the KGB guy who listed her as a CIA agent years before any of us had ever heard of Valerie Plame?

Oh, you mean your precious left-leaning internet never told you about that?

Press seeks out every niche of right and left wing, and spawns media vehicles to advertise to them. It has become like a politician, profiting on polarization.

If you are polarized, then you are the one they duped.

Jesus said to love all your neighbors. I guess that is radical, but so long ago, maybe reactionary.

Political discourse. It’s planned to enlighten. (Sorry, bad joke). It’s intended to make us think. (Another bad joke.)

The deals are made behind cosed doors, then dumped in our laps. We, the recipients of these “deals” have no say in the making, nor the choice of “takk it or leave it”!

Sadly children, there never was Freedom of the Press. Even in the olden days of newspapers and radio, reporters were cheaper to buy than a hooker.

Of course the media is right wing. That’s why the first words out of their mouths after the shootings in Arizona were about how it was all Saraha Palin’s fault for something she had posted on a website nearly a year ago. That proves that they’re right wingers doesn’t it? And Dan Rather on CBS posting obviously forged documents attempting to discredit President Bush (not that he necessarily needed any help), that proves the media is right wing, doesn’t it?

Take a quick poll of the news anchors and major reporters on the networks and see how many of them are right-wingers. The owners could care less what gets published as long as they make money, but the rank and file media without question are left-leaning. That’s not necessarily a bad thing as long as they are intellectually honest and report the missteps and bad deeds of all sides with equal intensity. Unfortunately, that seldom occurs on any major network in the US.

I think the distinctions of “right” and “left” are smokescreens. There is “The Establishment” and there are those who don’t go along with it. There are both “right” and “left” within the Establishment and without. The Establishment doesn’t want you to know what is really going on, so their real work never makes it to the press….ANY press! And yes, pamlicorat, the press is just out to make a buck and doesn’t care what side they are on or who they hurt.

freeholder, I typed the words “take a poll” not “the polls show”. This is the latest poll I could find without spending an inordinate amount of time to achieve the same result. It’s about 3 or 4 years old, obviously.

    http://www.mrc.org/cyberalerts/2008/cyb20080319.asp#4

The truth is, these types of polls don’t get done very often simply because most of these journalists want people to believe that they are independent, unaffected relayers of news content. If I want commentary with my news, I’ll watch Olberman or listen to Limbaugh or those types. I’d like to be able to find news content uncontaminated by the biases (liberal or conservative) of the mostly pretty faces with vacuous sound byte takes on issues that require more thought than whether one is “team edward or team jacob” for whatever that’s worth.
