That’s what we love about Calvin. He is all the mischief we can imagine a six year old getting into in a single little boy. Every parent’s fears of what their kid might do rolled up in a rugby-striped ball and a rugby-striped bat. We look at his parents and think “There, but for the grace of God, go I.”

You know things are really going haywire when Mom and “live” Hobbes are in the same panel!

Mom’s spidey sense is spot on…..

It’s a given.

Any time my kids were quiet, I had to go check…. it almost always meant that they were into something they shouldn’t, or they had killed each other. In either case, I had a mess to “clean up.” ALWAYS check on kids when they’ve gone silent.

Faster than a speeding car, able to climb trees in a single bound, not so good at hiding though.

Oh, just wait until you find out, Mom!

15 minutes? You know your kid. Shoulda looked after ten…

What an understatement that is!

Thats’s the way Mom sonar works. If you can’t hear the kids, they are up to no good. If it’s legal it’s loud. If it’s sneaky it’s silent.

Too bad Calvin is too old to wear those little bells that moms would put on toddler’s shoes.

A rare frame with Hobbs as non-stuffed tiger with a person other than Hobbs. Of course the other person is never looking.

IIRC this is the only strip where either parent is seen in the same panel with the “animated” version of Hobbes…

A mom always knows how long it will take.

I blame mom on this one. With a kid like Calvin around you always keep the doors locked.

“It’s quiet. Too quiet.” When I was a Boy Scout, I could start a fire just by rubbing two dry cliches together.

Loud crash in …. 3 …. 2 …. 1 ….

I remember this arc from the first time around. Truly memorable.

Strangely, the clubhouse is probably an afterthought about now.

Wait a minute. Yesterday, Hobbes stopped Calvin from following the car into the road. Either they changed their minds, or this is not a linear telling.

Mom is taking this quite peacefully, or resignedly…

The car in the window is good, but the run is special.

As you are raising your children, just understand they are your replacements.

15 minutes of silence is probably too long for this family.

That was my foster parents philosophy. If she didn’t hear from me within 15 minutes I must be up to no good.
