    Hard to guess who’ll win…

they’ve both been on a roll lately.

I wish they would all just hang around, each someplace where they’re appreciated,

instead of having to square off.

But their backs are to the wall….

each side is determined to go only one way.

Cos that’s the way they roll… loyal right down to the core.

I saw a great cartoon a few years ago. Four panels, the first two were labelled “over” and “under” and showed toilet paper mounted that way. The third said “sideways”, with the roll on end, standing on the little rod. The fourth had no paper at all and was labelled “kids”

According to the patent filed for toilet paper, over is what is presented.

Over is easier to grab and it keeps fingers/fingernails away from the wall or back of the holder, if you have a recessed one.

Let’s look at it from a pure ergonomics perspective. When it is over it is a few inches or more depending on the size of the Roll closer to you. Thus every time you grab some paper from an over roll you are expanding less energy than an under roll. End of story!

Either way goes over the top to hang down. You should say front or back. As others have noted, with cats or toddlers around go with back.

I’m surprised the Overs even made it to the corner without slimming down. Or perhaps they were an advance party of the Unders who stopped and flipped their faces?

Over is easier to use but under is necessary if you have young kids or pets who like to unroll.

If it is on a spindle that sticks out from the wall, it should be ‘over’, so that you can easily find the end, and easily pull it out. If it is on a spindle that swings out from the wall, and you have it ‘over’, it will jam against the wall when you pull on it. If it is ‘under’, even though you can’t see the end, you can use you finger tips to make it feed off the back (per Archie Bunker). So, it depends on the type of spindle you have. UNLESS!! you have a cat, and in the first situation it is very easy for the cat to unwind the whole roll. In this exception, if you reverse it, then it will bind against the wall, and thwart the playful kitty!

Their numbers seem evenly matched, unless one side can persuade a few members of the other side to flip.
