How can the waters be up to the second or third floor, when outside they’re still at the first-floor level? Also, this is the second time we’ve seen panel #1.

As for Thick feeling like Noah, I wish Locher could speak English. Does this mean that Thick feels like someone who had enough sense to build a boat before a flood started? Is he saying that Noah built a leaky boat, thereby drowning and bringing the Bible to an early end in Genesis?

Bill Thompson beat me to the comment, how can the water reach the second floor as the water level shown in the first panel is still the same as in the previous panels.

Yes Tracy, it is like Noah’s Ark, where everything was in pairs. In this case, we have Dumb and Dumber.

I didn’t think this story could get any worse, but I was wrong.

Thanks, neonleon59. I think it would be funnier if Thick’s ”What?” means that he’s just spotted Utnapishtim, or Zeus and Hermes. Or better yet, it’s Sigmund Freud out there, telling Locher that this flood symbolizes the onset of a bladder-control problem.

I wonder how much inspiration Locher took from the Noah story. Remember that the Ark floated seven months before it ran aground and it took several more months for the world to dry out. Locher just has to envy that slowness … but once Locher’s Flood has served its purpose, it will ebb with a speed that makes Thick’s head spin even faster.

One of the funny things about the Noah story is that the Ark was boarded by seven pairs of birds and clean animals, but only one pair of unclean animals. Maybe Thick has spotted the Ark and sees that Locher and Brozman have taken the spot he thought reserved for himself and Morbid.

Hey, morrow, Locher has finally written himself into a corner! Thick is in a fix where he can’t run away! Or doesn’t Locher understand that walking on water isn’t something you see every day?

I like the placement of the date in panel three. Makes it look like flies are buzzing around Thick’s head.

That’s to go with the cobwebs in Locher’s head.

Thick seems to be drooling in panel 2. Maybe that’s where all the liquid on the lower level is coming from?

Also, Thick’s startled look in panel 3 is priceless. Maybe Morass has finally taken off the chains himself, while Thick was distracted by the “flood”, and all his clothes as well? That would startle anyone!!

No go BillThompson. We can all THINK Locher has written himself into a corner and it may very well seem that way. But by saying that we have underestimated Locher. Locher has a habit of pulling tricks out of nowhere, such as us finding out that in the next strip the water has mysteriously vanished and no one even recalls it. Need I bring to mind what led up to the ‘power approach’?

Now I may be wrong but if the water is able to rise up to the second floor in the granary it must be pretty horrible outside. Im assuming that the lake has overflowed and, if Tracy were crazy enough, he could just dive out the window and swim to safety. I doubt he would and Im sure that for some odd reason the ground is still there with not a puddle on it which wouldnt make a lick of sense. Then again, nothing here makes sense.

NVash, you’re right about Locher’s gonzo continuity. He’s capable of any absurdity in his quest to mark time. He might have Thick jump into deep water, almost drown, and get saved as the waters swiftly recede. With Locher the safest assumption may be that his plans will involve violating the laws of nature.

Whatever Thick does will most definitely violate every law of reason in existence. You can bank on that. Laws of physics, statutory laws, police guidelines, you name it. Thick will mince them all. He’s been doing it since Locher took over. Why would it change now?
