Kirbee must be a Wiccan. Not that it is a bad thing. Its not. Just good vibes or incantations or wishful thinking can’t protect against violence and real danger. Something is very wrong here. Wally can’t remember……Kirbee believes in amulets and talismans…….something is wrong.
all of a sudden her new behavior makes perfect sense, her memories and personality have been altered to make her fit in the role of mother and homemaker. The other 2 have had their memories tinkered with but so far it seems nobody edited their personalities.
It breaks my heart to see Kirby doubting her ability to be a surrogate mother to Chick. Kirby is a little simple minded but she is giving chick love and a sense of kinship, Chick has a family that loves and wants to give him the best life they can. I don’t see Kirby as a Wiccan, she is simply superstitious. I see her as being comparable to many mothers in places like Appalachia, under educated and believing in folk tales as a way of life.
She’s doing a better job than Chic’s real mother. Don’t get me wrong: Chic’s mom really did love him. The problem was, she was the only member of the family that did. His father, the Chief, was so ashamed of having a non-lizard in the family, that he wanted to get rid of him. Chic wouldn’t leave with the other non-lizards to other colonies, so his father made him live in the tunnels and work under an abusive cook. When a heart-broken raccoon went berserk, the Chief saw a chance to kill two birds with one stone; he sealed the tunnels and filled them with gas. When his mother found out, she nearly killed her husband.
Thankfully, Wally, Holly and Kirbee gave Chic and Irving a new lease on life. And while I am sad that Holly is no longer with them, at least Kirbee is doing a great job caring for everyone.

Best kind of protection is preparing them for things to come. Then make them learn on their own.

“A real mother”…and last strip, Wally referred to “my kid”. There is no doubt that both of them care deeply for Chic.

No mother, no matter how loving, can protect her child from everything. Kirby’s doing her best by Chic in the best way she can.

There’s no magic in endtown, at least not without a certain deus ex machina of a character around.

“A real mother would have made all the charms you need.”
She knows how to make zero guns?
That’s some charm!

Chic: “But it did! It did protect me against a Topsider!”
Kirbie: “Now you’re just trying to make me feel better, but thanks for that.”
Chic: “No, really, look! I kept the mask as proof!”

She’s the best kind of mother — one who loves her child.
