good alternative, Michael, by sticking with a comic book (follow your older brother’s example, Elizabeth, go read a book)

I know how he feels. I have about 75 channels on my “favorites” listing alone and still often can’t find anything worth watching.

I’ve always found that for some reason on Sundays there is rarely anything of interest to watch despite all the channels there are.I always have to wait for the week day to see anything of value. I could be wrong, but that’s my opinion on week-end programming.

No history on the History channel. No science on the Science channel. I learn nothing important on TLC. Imagine spending $120/month on important books and reading them.

I think they all sound interesting. But at Michael’s age? Those things would bore me to tears…. bring on the cartoons!

Young Michael’s dis-interest is all too prevalent, and so was I at his age!

Educational TV? What a bore. He might as well be in school.

To be fair, all of those subjects would be boring to a teenager who is looking to be entertained.

If Michael were holding a copy of MAD Magazine in the last two panels, he might be reading this article:

The only time I watch ‘real’ TV is when I’m at the treadmill at the gym. I can’t believe the amount of commercials per hour (20 minutes per hour) plus aimed at mentally challenged viewers. The only exception seems to be Geico, they actually make you laugh.

CuriosityStream is an excellent streaming channel, for $2.99/month HD or $9.99/month 4K. It is a bargain that is much better than Discovery or History.Free with some of their content and Ads. 7 day Free Trial available.

By far one of the best channels to enjoy and learn.( No this is not a paid Advertisement, I’m just a fan).

Bruce Springsteen – “57 Channels and Nothin’ on.” Even more channels now, and still nothing on! (I don’t have TV at all, cable or otherwise, for the reasons people have mentioned here. Some consider me a freak, but that’s okay. I use that money for DVDs and books and streaming movies.)

The Broadway musical story would have been of interest to me if it were about: ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘Seven Brides For Seven Brothers’, ‘The Music Man’, ‘Singin’ In The Rain’, ‘Oklahoma’, ‘Camelot’, ‘Annie Get Your Gun’, ‘My Fair Lady’, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, or ‘The Wedding Singer’.

The other stuff? Not quite so interesting to me either. Therefore, a good book would have more than suited me just fine too! ;-)

I think the real problem is that all of those programs sounded like school.

My son grew up loving “Star Trek” and kind of identified with “Spock”. My son now has a Phd. in Physics. T.V. can inspire!

I guess I’ve been reading Candorville too long. I was expecting the last panel to be Michael settled back with a smile watching " … Gilligan, the Skipper too …"
