Earl never sent birthday cards anyway.

I don’t use Facebook but I spend a long time picking the right ecard and composing my own message. Paper cards just get thrown away anyway.

That’s ok Opal. When his next birthday rolls around you can conveniently “forget” too.

I still love to get “real” cards in the mail. I send them, too. Since the internet, most of us get mail via email, and in our mailboxes maybe still bills, or 3rd class “junk”. It’s really special these days to get a CARD. Luckily, most of my friends feel this way and we make sure we send each other birthday and Xmas cards. I love to display them for about a month…something you cannot do with an e-card. And as someone said above, special ones can be kept forever. I cherish the cards my Dad sent me over the last years before he died. And especially seeing his beautiful handwriting. I never knew anyone with such beautiful, artistic penmanship that didn’t falter in old age.

OK, having followed these two for some time, I think Earl is just egging her on because she’s making a big deal out of not getting a “real card.” He’s no dummy — she wouldn’t let him be.

Earl we hope you have a birthday something for Opal. Nice thing about Birthday cards through the mail is they are real and you may hold them. I read someplace that two friends keep sending the same birthday card back and forth to each other on their birthdays ;-)

When my mom passed away, I found a huge suitcase in the attic…..every card she had ever received…..I took the time to sort them by each person who gave her the cards and gave it to them and they were overwhelmed….memories…..

“Real” birthday cards were invented so people didn’t have to take the time to write out a personal sentiment. I send ecards a lot of the time, but I personalize each one to express my sentiments, and hopefully evoke a memory in the recipient.

Well, we can eliminate “from the brain” with Earl’s comment!

I love sending birthday cards. In 2018, I made a goal to send a birthday card to every woman in our church congregation/neighborhood throughout the year. I got a list of all the ladies, ordered some birthday cards from Amazon, and I was off! It was amazing! The best thing about it, I told no one I was doing it. It was my own delicious secret. I was touched by how many of these ladies shared with me how loved and special they felt after receiving an actual birthday card. It’s a wonderful feeling helping people feel joy as you serve them.

I bought a Hallmark card a month ago for an upcoming college graduate and actually fainted at the cost. Gees, guys just print and sell more, it’s not a new concept. However, Apple never figured it out I guess. Why, now why should they with so many morons with hands-full of money?

Well, they do say it’s the thought that counts. I’ll take remembrance of special occasions any way I can get them these days and be glad for them.

At least she’s getting birthday greetings.

But, Earl said that from the heart.

I send both, depending on the recipient. Kids get paper cards because they like getting mail. Some of my older friends do, too. Ecards take as much time to choose the right card as the paper ones, and with a subscription, I can schedule them to send on the date. I can also send cards for other occasions, like Thanksgiving, which I would not do with a paper card. And sympathy cards are always paper.

Nowadays you can preset greetings to be sent automatically. So, it takes 2 minutes to set up once, and no thought thereafter.

I do send “real” cards to family and friends I know well… but using Facebook helps me keep in touch with a lot of other people I know through the regular activities I do. I usually go out of my way to get interesting greetings and pictures for most of them.

I rarely go to Facebook. I had to tell some of the family I would not need or want or use Facebook so I don’t have an account. I did comment once and that led to being bothered by Facebook for years.

Uh oh, I see trouble coming.

Baloney. The best day to be on Facebook is your birthday!Now I get good wishes from 150 people, not just a few.

Oh Earl, get with it. Pearl is gonna getcha for that!

Some things are better left unsaid (It’s your birthday?)

I don’t like real cards, it’s a waste of paper and money. I would much rather get a facebook message.
