From Wikipedia: Led Zeppelin is the debut album by English rock band Led Zeppelin. It was released on 12 January 1969 in the United States and on 31 March in the United Kingdom by Atlantic Records.
The album was recorded in September and October 1968 at Olympic Studios, London, shortly after the band’s formation. It contains a mix of original material worked out in the first rehearsals, and remakes and rearrangements of contemporary blues and folk songs. The sessions took place before the group had secured a recording contract and were paid for directly, and took 36 hours and less than £2,000 to complete. It was self-produced by Jimmy Page, the group’s founder, leader, and guitarist. He was joined on the album by band members Robert Plant (lead vocals, harmonica), John Paul Jones (bass, keyboards), and John Bonham (drums). Percussionist Viram Jasani appears as a guest on one track. The album was mixed by Glyn Johns, and the iconic album cover showing the Hindenburg disaster was designed by George Hardie.
And, how old is some of the most popular Classical Music (Bach, Beethoven, etc) – and no one complains or comments on how many years ago it was written. :P
Best songs from Led Zeppelin: “Ramble On” (a “Lord of the Rings” reference was mentioned) & “Stairway To Heaven” (from soft to hard rock, a masterpiece)
I was visiting my brother last night (we’re both in our 60’s). He asked me if I wanted to see The Who this weekend. Big slashes in ticket prices due to poor sales. Went on You-Tube to hear what they sounded like these days. Found a show from about a week ago. Sad. Old. And a full orchestra to really ruin things. Even with tickets marked down to $20, we will not be going. Both of us being old enough to have seen The Who several times when it was the original four members, neither of us need a sad night with what passes for The Who in 2019.
yea, I wasn’t even born then, but I know zeppelin, I believe most people know who zeppelin is and I like a few songs (battle of evermore, gallows pole, black dog, etc, and stairway to heaven as if it didn’t play on radio like star wars reruns). No, I don’t get it
I liked the music of the day while I was in High School in the ‘50s, but ever since I only enjoy jazz and classical. I don’t listen to most of the “popular” music that followed the ’60s.
It was also 50 years ago that men landed on the moon, and that the Amazin’ Mets won their first World Series (full disclosure: former resident of Flushing, Queens planning to attend one of the games the last weekend of June, when the Mets will be celebrating this golden anniversary).

I might have taken some (at that time) illegal drugs while first listening to that.

Just one of many reasons why our generation’s music is so great.

I have some older Charlie Parker and Stan Getz left to me by an uncle.

Personally, I don’t mind aging. It sure beats the alternative.

And they all said that Rock-N-Roll was just a passing fad. But I’ve never shed a tear for that Wimoweh stuff…..

At least you could relate to the lyrics back then, and the music was “musical”, not just background music and rap.

Oh damn, is it 2019 already? I was doing some longer term planning earlier today, and I thought it was still 2017. Getting old.
