The “niceness” standard would be defined by un-nice people who enfoces the new niceness at the point of a gun.
See bakers terrorized by governments in Colorado and Oregon for not being “nice” by being forced to bake for a wedding that violates thier religious convictions. Real “nice”
As someone who has been called a hater on this page more times than I care to remember, and has been dis-invited from commenting on this page about as many times, well, here is the rabbit hole that we are in.
The amount of hate that I see on this page is one reason I seldom comment on this page anymore. (And I know my detractors will not believe that, either)
On another page I follow, Luann, the subject of hate came up today, and it came up in an interesting way. The setup: The father of one of the legacy characters of the strip has fallen in love with who is currently the top villain of the strip. Daughter tries to enlighten her father as to who the love of his life is. She throws her hands up and says, “Love is blind,” to which the father answers, to the effect of, “and so is hate.”
For a split second, I have to say that I agree with the father’s assessment of the emotion (even if I disagree with his assessment of his relationship):
Hate is blind.
And what I see every day, in every way, and too often, on this page is:
*I don’t agree with you, therefore, you hate me.
Often followed with:
Go away.
Follow some other comic strip. Stop commenting on this one. But whatever you do, don’t let your voice be heard because I don’t want to hear it.
This is precisely what needs to stop, though I admit that I am not an admin and unable to enforce anything – as if I wanted to enforce anything.

That’s a little vague, Winslow. After all, we have a Resident who probably thinks he’s the nicest human being who’s ever lived.

I’d have to be nice to EVERYONE? Aw jeez, I’m so glad I don’t live there.

Be nice or be loving? It would be nice to eat sweets for every meal but it is not a loving parent that lets their child overindulges.

Some people think it’s nice to be left alone. Others think it is nice to constantly tell you what to do. Thus, “be nice” by itself does not work.

No need to worry about trivialities like how you decide who’s in charge, eh? This will end well.

So how would we define what is “nice”? Everyones needs and requirements are different. Also, is being polite nice or being truthful nice?

That is pretty much one of the two great commandments that Jesus gave us.

This isn’t e an a thing and yet many of you are trying to find loopholes so they don’t have nice and have it be OK.

Being nice is for losers, right Trump Disciples?
You’ll never catch your Messiah being nice.

Be nice to each other? We’re Americans, Winslow: we’re not into that sort of thing!

Thou shalt not annoy other people, and if you are other people, thou shalt not get annoyed too easily.

When you have shut up as they wanted, @Cheapskate0 that means that they have won and we have lost.
