From Wikipedia: “There are a wide range of reproductive strategies employed by different species. Some animals, such as the human and northern gannet, do not reach sexual maturity for many years after birth and even then produce few offspring. Others reproduce quickly; but, under normal circumstances, most offspring do not survive to adulthood. For example, a rabbit (mature after 8 months) can produce 10–30 offspring per year, and a fruit fly (mature after 10–14 days) can produce up to 900 offspring per year. These two main strategies are known as K-selection (few offspring) and r-selection (many offspring).”
Well, the shark followed its own instinct. Most humans are not original thinkers either. We pretty much follow the popular opinion of the day or some role model.

I’ll never forget what Jacques Cousteau used to say at times like these, “get outta that bathroom, boy, and give someone else a chance!”

He didn’t even notice Marlin Perkins, off-screen to landwards, releasing the baby turtle on its (short-lived) journey towards the sea.

Is that a Great White in such shallow water?
Poor little turtle. But low survivorship is why so many are hatched at any one time….
E.B.? Get a life (robotically speaking)!
