I can’t wait for Pearl to have the same conversation with Nelson! “Catalog? Is it a new app, Aunty Pearl?? Do you need to check a consent checkbox to activate it?"
I too, have no problems with Amazon. I also use Walmart online to compare prices. Often, Walmart sells the exact same thing at a similar or lower price and they don’t charge for shipping. Or…you can get free pick-up at your Walmart store. (No, I’m not on their payroll).
I know some older people who proudly boast that they’ve never used or had a computer. Being an older person myself, I just feel sorry for them. Hurray for Amazon Prime!
I read and hear a lot of bashing of on-line shopping; everything from product quality to customer service and anything and everything in between. Suggest that the remedy would be to shop and patronize your local brick-and-mortar merchants, who are struggling and would really appreciate the business, and you’re looked at like you just stepped off the flying saucer.
I do quite a bit of shopping at Amazon, but there are certain things I won’t buy online. Clothes and shoes for example: I am an odd size and what looks nice on the mannequin or in the photo just won’t fit me. I need to try things on before I buy them.
LOL! I saw this & immediately thought of my mom. She gets a lot of her clothes from the venerable Blair & Haband catalogs, dutifully filling out the order forms & sending checks. She can’t figure out why I don’t even have checks for my accounts…I’m spoiled by my debit cards (which she doesn’t trust)!
Yes, I still remember when my sister and I were anxiously waiting for the catalogues (Otto and Quelle in Germany) to check out the newest clothes and hoping that my mother would let us order our favorites. And I still think it was more fun than scrolling through page after page online.
Even my “I’ll never have a cell phone” spouse has figured out how to use Amazon. She even logs in and becomes a Mechanical Turk from time to time! (I tried that too, but the pay rate was so abysmal that I could do better walking the roadsides collecting cans.)

You should better get some new bookshelves before you ask for this catalog… BIG bookshelves! (I heard Amazon had some beautiful ones)
