I think Teresa is channeling my mother. She used to turn off the sound on the TV during the chase scene at the end of Scooby Doo because it was “Devil’s music!”
A lot of people got hurt. A lot of people died. A lot of places got turned into glass bowls or chemical wastelands where everybody was lost overnight. Those folks were lucky, sort of. They missed the Golden Age of Rock and Roll where Anarchy and Rebellion were the rule. They missed out on the past fifty years of The Reconstruction. There’s still lots of places where radiation will kill you, or where there’s dangerous mutagenic chemicals, the kind that they used to quiet the areas infected with the rebellious underclass problem people, after nerve agents and the like ran out. Nasty, but effective, I suppose.
There was the surprisingly durable belief that certain rock-n-roll rhythms would cause arrhythmia in young folks, or some such. The thing about preaching is that you’ve got (or think you’ve got) the Almighty on your side, so you can’t lose. Makes you wonder why they feel they have to come on so strong.
I seem to remember hearing that sermon back in the early-to-mid ‘50s. Didn’t stop me from becoming a fan of Fats Domino, Little Richard, and Gene Vincent.
And look where I am now, A Froglandian defender of decadence! (But it’s my decadence, and I’ll deal with it!)
I am very fond of jazz music, and I swear by all the devils in the nether regions that every person shall be spared in whose home a jazz band is in full swing at the time I have just mentioned. If everyone has a jazz band going, well, then, so much the better for you people. One thing is certain and that is that some of your people who do not jazz it out on that specific Tuesday night (if there be any) will get the axe.

The babe with the power (what power?)
The power of voodoo (who do?)
You do (do what?)
Remind me of the babe

… Teresa is preaching to the choir…
… "They sing that, ‘Jesus is just all right!’ “….
…”Well, let me tell you, brothers and sisters, Jesus is more than just alright!“…
…Preacher man talking on Tv putting down Rock & Roll”….
…asks me for a donation ‘cuz he’s worried about my soul…
…He can talk. He can talk….
… I can SING…
… the fickle finger of fate…
… money is the root of all evil …
…if money is your downfall…
…send your money to me!…
