A friend of mine did one one better. When her kids misbehaved for the babysitter she paid the babysitter 50% extra. The extra money from of the kids’ allowence. She promised that if they were naughty again then they would have to forfeit their allowence again. They were always good after that.
I wonder if I should point out to Mom and Dad that a number of years ago they had an evening much like this one – and nine months later, they had Calvin. No, I’d better not. That would be cruel. 8>}
How is it that yesterday Calvin was answering the phone from the second floor and yelling down at her and yet today she is right outside his window which is a dormer on the roof?
Just wondering about the perspective…if Calvin is still upstairs, did Roz climb up onto the roof, or suddenly grow very tall? If Calvin moved downstairs, is Roz down on her knees or bent over yelling at him?
Growing up is supposed to involve turning total egoist monsters into civil citizens. Calvin’s both clever and somewhat behind the “become civilized” curve: A dangerous combination.

Mom and Dad should take the money they spend for babysitting out of Calvin’s college account.

Yeah, it would be nice to have a regular date night. But you couldn’t afford the babysitting.
Roz, you know the saying about sugar and vinegar? You brought this on yourself.

“Alone together.” What an oxymoronic, and moronic, phrase.

Stick around Calvin long enough and you’d start acting like a psycho too.

Sooo, does the “drop the kid off at the fire station, no questions asked” rule apply in this case?

They look so happy and content in the first panel. It’s almost like they’re in complete denial about how this evening will end.

Save the babysitting money for duct tape, the parent’s friend.

For a kid who complains how unfair the world is when Moe seizes his truck, he doesn’t seem all too concerned with his own abusive behavior
